It is a real letdown to see this abomination! Usually, I reserve judgement until I see the watch in the flesh. However, in this case I shall make an exception.
When I say letdown, I mean having just returned happily to Breitling ownership as of yesterday, with my brand new Steelfish. That is a true Breitling! This new LE Blacksteel is almost hideous enough for me to take the whole blunder personally, as a punishment for my return to Breitling
I really do not understand this obsession that Breitling has with seemingly turning every model into a Blacksteel Limited Edtion. It is at the point of absurdity, and it makes the notion of owning a Limited Edition model absolutely meaningless. I loved the Skyland Blacksteel LE, in fact I bought one. Then they started on the Super Avenger, then Blackbird, and who knows where it will end.
Both Omega and Breitling have been making a lot of nonsensical moves lately. One of the reasons I am also selling my 4 Omegas - 2 down and 2 to go. But that is another story.
Now I just have to get over this latest Breitling torment, and get on with appreciating my new Steelfish! And thanks to all you wonderful folks for being here!
Cheers,
Carl

I actually kind like it, besides the giant red EFFING bezel :guns: . Seriously, what the hell is that? If it had a black bezel it wouldn't be too bad, the red accents on the dial are pretty nice, not too over the top like the Red Robin :guns: :guns: :guns: , but that red bezel makes it look like it should be sold in Toys R Us.

Carl, what 2 Omegas are you selling? :poke:

Yep, it's getting worse. How could they think this is a good idea?

Not so bad, but they went way over the line with the BS models.

I have to wonder if this is also a hint of another trend to come - coloured rubber bezels. We have seen the rubber bezel spreading across the range in the last couple of years and now we see different coloured rubber. Clearly our opinions are of no interest to Breitling and all evidence suggests that once they come up with an idea that they like it gets extended everywhere - DLC shows that better than anything.

I can't help thinking that there will be more rainbow rubber headed our way.

I didn't realize that the red atrocity on that poor watch was made of rubber. Now I give up, that's just disgusting.

How many more reason's do we need for a puking emoticon?

Maybe they will take my suggestion and start using colored thread and sew me a black calf strap with yellow thread!!!!!! I'm still holding out hope that they will do this.

As for the color rubber bezels...absolutely pathetic. Who are they targeting with this?? Forget about ceramic bezels, let's play around with coloring our rubber bezles....is that their thought process? :idontgetit:

Blimey thats hideous, Breitling need to becareful here, they are pushing away the masses of ardent fans ! The blacksteels were so desirable that more and more are being produced. How can we make them different, stick some colour on !!

That watch is 49mm, the red rubber bezel is going to look like a little girl's hula hoop stuck on a watch. I'm angry now.

HA!

It really is a shame that they would do this to what is supposed to me an iconic style watch. I guess this is the beginning of the Navitimer Series blacksteel phase. Maybe we'll get a blacksteel Monty next. What's the over-under on a blacksteel B01, you know it's coming.

A midsize Railmaster and a 90s Dynamic. Already sold my AT8500 and SMP.
Funny, I would have thought the Railmaster would go first.
Cheers,
Carl

That photo looks decidedly dodgy to me, some very poor photoshop'ing, it would be nice if the entire story were false, but I feel it isn't.

I'm even more glad now I decided to drop out of the Blacksteel models!

Yeesh. This is not particularly good. Ugly, in fact.

If Breitling is going to DLC everything in it's path, they should develop a technique to do the bracelets too. If DLC isn't the right technology for bracelets, they should develop something specific for the DLC'd watches. Enough of this "throw some rubber on it". It'd be nice to see them put some actual effort in! The rubber looks like a total afterthought.

I guarantee that it's real - unfortunately.
