Generally when I think about dial color I prefer black, you just cant go wrong. However, the more I think about the Steelfish, I am thinking the silver might be the winner. Here's why...I generally like wearing a SS bracelet, however, in the summer I don't think anything looks better than a brown leather strap. That said, the Silver dial in my opinion, gives the best of 2 different looks. What do you think...black of silver???

I would try to find and try on both in person, then chances are you'll know the answer right away.

As far as my personal opinion, I've never seen a silver dial fish in the flesh but I always found silver dials a little iffy for me. They are a nice clean look but I'm afraid I'd get bored of it. Then again, that's where the straps come in. Black dial watches can still be worn with brown straps but it won't compliment as nicely as a silver dial.

Whichever you choose, throw some pics our way!

I had a black dial Steelfish and it worked well on the brown calf strap, although I kept it on the bracelet mostly.

However, after seeing a friends silver dial, I think thats the way I would go now and always wear it on brown leather. That combo just works so well 8)

I had a silver dial Steelfish and sold it because I figured out I prefer black dials. Nothing wrong with the silver, it's just a preference. If you want to put it on a brown leather strap, then silver all the way. That combination works really well.

I have a black dial Steelfish and I wear it on a black rubber strap, which I think is the best combo. The black dial just has the biggest impact imo.

The watch originally came with the brown calf and I wasn't so keen, but that's because of the style of the strap - it's too insubstantial for the chunky Steelfish.

However, I do think the brown/black combination works and so I'm currently having a new brown leather strap made - much weightier, more rugged, bolder stitching and squared off tail (rather than tapered). Should have it in a week or so and will post pics then to prove the point!

I purchased a Steelfish about seven weeks ago, and after much thought, I chose the silver dial over the black. I can't tell you how glad I am I ultimately chose the silver, as it's one of the most versatile, best-looking watches I've ever seen. The silver dial allows it to be worn as an everyday sports watch, but it also looks very appropriate when you're more formally dressed (i.e. jacket and tie). The pictures you see of the silver dial don't really do it justice. I think you'll be very pleased with it, should you decide to go in that direction. I highly recommend it!

Also, Hook'em Horns! UCLA is going down hard this weekend!

Silver -it's really cream. While I wear brown straps with black dials, the combo of the cream dial and the brown(especially the light brown - gold) is killer. Two big :lingsrock: s up there.

Preference is very personal, so I hope you find the dial color that really does it for you. As for me, there was no contest. The blue was absolutely stunning.

Hey Scotty!
Please read my thread, which I just posted!
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=23019and

I was looking at the Steelfish just today, my AD had only the one with the silver dial. It was the first one he had seen, and I have never seen one either. It looked a bit washed out in the display case with the brushed steel bracelet. We both agreed that a brown leather strap would look better. Wow! It really became one of the coolest looking watches I have seen yet. I bought it on the spot! I had one with the black dial, which was also beautiful, but this dial looks so unique. I can't call is silver. More like a cream colour, and the dark brown leather in the strap really brings out the dial colour.
I wish I could capture the dial colour in my pics, they are pretty bad and don't do the watch any justice.
I have seen the blue dial as well, and it is also a stunner! Do yourself a favour, and try to see all 3 dials before making a choice. I would say, though, that the silver dial definitely looks best with brown leather.
The Breitling brown leather strap is probably the best quality strap I have seen. The white stitching looks great with the white background on the calendar, and the slightly off white markers.
Cheers,
Carl

A perfect pic! I wish I could get mine as good. I admit that blue dial is stunning!

I have to agree 100%!! I went to my AD today, to look at Breitlings, and they had the first "silver" dial I had seen on a Steelfish. It was on brushed steel, but as soon as the brown strap was put on, I simply had to have it! It is definitely one of the most beautiful and unique looks in any watch I have ever seen. The dial colour is simply amazing!
Cheers,
Carl
