People do buy them. They even have a celebrity endorsement

He means dial color means nothing because the diamond bezel kills it. Honestly, you won't find many (if any) members here that are fans of the diamond bezel. I think Breitlings have enough style and pizzazz and the diamonds overdo it by saying "hey look at me hey look at me". But people otu there do like them or else they wouldn't make them so to each his/her own.

If I were you, I would just buy a regular SA and buy an aftermarket diamond bezel. You can probably even get one custom made with much higher quality diamonds or gems of your choosing for a cheaper price. Sorry I have no input on price but if you can dish out $8k on a watch, then I wouldn't worry about saving a few hundred dollars. And yes I know there are many stingy wealthy people out there, but they wouldn't be buying an $8k Breitling in the first place.

i thought breitling uses vvs1 e colored diamonds on their bezels or so I was told by a couple of ADs

Chronomat is 1.14 carats, not sure on the SA but will be a little higher.

If you are going to buy it...I would just buy the one from the dealer with the diamond bezel. I heard that Breitling won't service the watch (should it need it one day) if it has been altered in any way. Not sure if this is totally true or not, but I have heard that from more than one person! Go for it if that is what you want! Enjoy!

One grey market site says that it'll be 1.23 carats on the bezel

I decided I wanted a DB9 a couple months ago so I spent weeks going to different dealerships and looking online until one of my friends said "if you're bargain hunting for an Aston Martin, you shouldn't be driving an Aston Martin." Applies pretty well to $8000 watches as well.
