Hi all, been having a browse around, (Great site :D ) now for my first post, I would be grateful if you could tell me how to find the date of manufacture of a Breitling watch, and what the various numbers on the bracelet and rear case refer to, don't know if it makes any difference but, the watch in question would be a Superocean,
regards. The Soulman.

Ok guys, after having looked at the links provided with regard to dating a watch, I have a question, with the help of the abundance of great information on here I have been doing a little research with regard to a Superocean chrono, the watch in question has the COSC certificate and the international warranty card stamped and signed by the original seller, (Wempe, 5th Ave, NY)
It also has the user manual, the outer cardboard box, inner Bakeolite box etc, etc, the serial number on the watch, warranty card and COSC certificate all match, however and heres whats really puzzling me, :? the date of sale on the international warranty card is 3/5/05 and the date stamp on the casing between the lugs is 1005 :? :? :?
Please correct me if I am wrong, but the way I understand the casing numbers would mean that the watch was manufactured October 05 (Yes ?)
but the date of sale is 5 months (May 05) before the watch exsisted :? :?
can you good people offer any explanation / shed some light on this ?
regards, The Soulman.

P.S. Bracelet date reads S5104. (December 04 ?)

1005 would be the tenth week of 2005, not tenth month which would be mid March.

I believe. Either way it seems it's a time traveller...

Thanks for that bud, so the 10th week would be mid March 05 and date of sale on the international warranty card is 3rd May 2005 (3/5/05 so 17th week 05)
So hopefully now it makes sense. :D :D :D

That seems about right for a watch sold pretty much as soon as it gets in - produced mid March, probably received at the AD early to mid April depending on how long it was with the distributor and then sold early May.

I obviously don't look at my warranty cards hard enough! I didn't know they filled them in non-American way.

I read the date supplied for the warranty card as March, not May.

As Americans say "my bad"

No problem VillageIdiot, I realised you may have read it that way from your reply, in any case, I'm very thankful for your reply / putting my mind at rest,
