It took a lot longer for Driver8 to think and document it than it will take you to read it. You could also try the search function as this has been discussed many, many times.

I love the Super Avenger, but I'd definately choose the 305. I'll sell you my Black Super Avenger with Baton Dial that has never been worn outside my house. I'm seriously considering the PAM 243 or 305. It's funny, I didn't like Panerai watches at all when I first started looking at them, but now I can't wait to get one.

So here is my dilemma... I have always loved the SA's and recently the PAM's have started growing on me especially the 305's 47mm casing!

I have always loved the SA for its size and weight. It would make the perfect "weekend watch" because you can wear it many ways (rubber and steel). Which leads to my issues with the PAM.... It's titanium so it's light  I was hoping for something that size to have some lb's to it! Especially for the price of the 305 I feel like it should at least feel like its 10k! Then the other con to the PAM in my opinion is that I would like it to be more versatile by having a steel bracelet (like the SA).

HOWEVER... I just love the uniqueness of the 305 and that there are not too many out there from at least what i have seen(ever).

WTF....opinions please

Will they ever make a 305 in Steel???

Between the 305 and the SA I'd go with the 305, that's just because I really don't like the SA, it seems to be big just to be big. I also like the more classically styled PAMs more than the 305, for that money I'd rather get a 312 and have money left over for an Oris or something to use as a beater.

I did like B&R's until I saw them in person, the BR01 is just enormous, if you're a big dude looking for a big watch then it works, but I thought it looked like a license plate strapped to my wrist. The BR02 isn't too bad, I actually kind of like that one but the curvy rubber strap is kind of a turn-off for me. The BR03 isn't bad, but as with other B&R's I think that they're a bit over priced.

As of right now... the SA fits my every need for what I would want out of my 2nd watch. But when I ran across the PAM 305 I just couldn't resist. Are they as light in weight as I here they are? I am disappointed to hear this! I like to feel the money on my wrist if you know what I mean. This is why I never took the Rolex route! after I put the Breitling on, the Rolex just felt insignificant and like I just won it out of a Cracker Jack Box or something. :uplaugh:

The one down fall to the 305 for me though is I wish it also came with a bracelet. That is why I still like the SA because of its versatility!

PS: I am 6'3" 200lbs and have probably the largest hands in the world lol (played ball in college) I tried a SA on at a wedding the other day that a gentlemen was wearing and (size wise) felt/looked ok!

it sounds like you are leaning heavy to the SA, and there is nothing wrong with that. Like RJ said for the price of that one Pam you could buy a couple if not a few lings.

i own a SA and i love it. cost me way less then my motors and i wear the SA everyday. the funny thing is that i am starting to look at Panerai more and more and i have to admit that i am slowly being drawn towards the brand. you really cant go wrong with the SA for all the reasons you have listed, plus some. i think you have to go with your gut on this one and right now it seems to be saying SA all the way!

It sounds like you could pull off the SA pretty well, I'm only 5'8", and even though my wrists are a little bigger I have smaller hands, shut-up, and the SA just didn't fit me well. It really seems that you like the SA and it would probably make sense to go with one of those and save yourself some cash for a different PAM in the future

Have you tried on any 44mm PAMs, they obviously aren't as big as the SA but they are a substantial watch that feels amazing on the wrist and just looks great.

B&Rs make great weekend watches. I've had a BR01 and a BR02, loved them both (still got the BR02 and it gets a lot of weekend wear).

If you like the styling, I can only think of 2 main criticisms of them:
1. Price.
2. Generic movements.

I didn't pay anything like MSRP, so I'm more than happy.

EDIT - the BR01 was very large, but I got away with it even though my wrists are only 6.75 inches. It doesn't wear as large as a SA.

Yeah I tried a BR01 on the other day and it fit even my 6&1/2" wirst - barely. In retrospect it's pretty obvious since the watch is square and therefore not as long. I might pull a flying nun if the wind picked up.

I know I know I am! lol But exactly what you said, "funny thing is that i am starting to look at Panerai more and more and i have to admit that i am slowly being drawn towards the brand" THATS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING!

Also I see so many SA's out there it would be nice to have something different. But the weight of the PAM scares me along with - if I were to dress up I cant put a bracelet on it. BUT I REALY LIKE THE PAM lol Looks like I will be following my gut with the SA (because I have always wanted one of them too)

For my weekender I have always wanted something bigger than 44mm. I have a 44mm chronomat now and that perfect for Mon-Thurs at work. Now I just need my 47mm+ for the weekends! :D

Ok, so I think I amy have another contender here....what about the Omega SEAMASTER PLOPROF 1200 M???? Any experience anyone.
I believe this fits my needs as well.... Has both bracelets, large(r) face, rugged...etc...

If anyone has any comparison to the SA I would appreciate it!

Thank everyone!
