I would be PO'd if I bought a 317 and then they announce a skeleton in a 1950 case.

You've mentioned skeleton a few times now, is this a rumor you heard or just something you're hoping for?

PAM 348 announced this year:

Tourbillon GMT coming in at $150k, but if it's a sign of things to come........

Given that I would likely be buying at Christmas time anyway, and Panerai announces models at SIHH, which is now January rather than at the same time as Basel, it may be worth waiting for announcements.

You see the problem here is you are assuming you will own only one Panerai. Sorry to say that is not going to happen, trust me

The introduction of a skeleton 1950 is a definite, its only a matter of when.

Who would have thunk it! :poke:

The first PAM I ever tried on was a 213 Rattrapante, and in the showcase, it looked ok, but on the wrist, I fell in love..., but since it was waaaay out of my price range, I ended up later on picking up a base 000. Love the sausage dail.

If money was no object and someone told me I could have only one PAM, but any one, it would be the 317. So out of the three, I would personally go for the 317...I think Driver8 said everything I would have said.

Looking forward to seeing what you end up choosing...

I know zero, zip, zilch about Panerai's. All those numbers get overwhelming! You mention PAM, and next thing you know you feel like your on a forum with Rain Man spouting out digits.

Now, I don't know the difference 317, a 339, a 311, or any other 3 digit combination. But, something struck me as I read through this thread - every PAM lover basically said "good luck" in finding a 339. Which is the exact reason why you (of all people) should own this piece that is so coveted by, and yet so elusive to, the paneristi.

You have said before that you only want to add special pieces to your collection. Special can be defined in a variety of ways. How special would it be for vocal PAM-hater to have one of the more coveted pieces by paneristi?

It's a deviant thought :plot: , but I think it makes the acquisition even more satisfying.

Quick panerai 101 for you: Every Panerai model is limited. Thats why there is so much demand. Just about every model is produced at no more than a couple of thousand units per year at most, so finding the one that you want with specific features can sometimes prove difficult. Throw in a new, highly unique model that is produced in extremely limited quantity, and you have something that usually ends up sold out before its even released. I personally dont like anything about the 339, but ill admit, its rareness and desirability by collectors does intrigue me.
