VERY cool.

I'm a bit of a traditionalist though - if it were completely mechanical, I'd be floored.

I didn't see a $$$ in there anywhere - I'll just assume off the bat it is WAY out of my price rane - but do we know how much $$$?

A lot less than you probably think.

It's American not Swiss which helps on the pricing, so rumoured to be around $15,000. Of course, as you note, it's not mechanical.

Never seen that before - very cool for what it is. BUT I can't help thinking you'd look a complete prat wearing one. And the non-mechanical aspect would put me off paying that kind of money for it.

Still, as I say, I think it's a very cool and innovative idea.

Ya $15,000 was somewhere in the article. It money werent an object I would be the first in line for something like this. It would just be awesome to sit and watch it work Im sure.

What an awesome looking watch. I love when watch makers create something that is completely new for telling time. My only complaint in the lack of it being mechanical. If it were mechanical I would concider it a buy at $15,000, but being battery powered I think its over priced by 4x.

Devon should partner up with a swiss maker and get rid of the battery.

Seriously like that watch! Have no problem with the required battery. My concern is it might be viewed as gimicky and lose the appeal in a couple of years.

There is no way a mechanical version would cost anywhere near $15K, unless maybe if the Chinese decides to make it.

That's the problem with these specialist functional elements.

What I do like is that pieces like this help to solve some of the engineering challenges in a more affordable manner. There have been a few of these belt driven pieces in the last few years and if it does become more mainstream then pieces like this are going to help to make the mechanical elements more affordable. I don't think that we will ever see anything like this at this price point from the Swiss, but the current mechanical offerings from Swiss manufacturers are $100k+.

I'm not feeling that thing. It's a cool concept and looks interesting, but definitely not for me. Call me boring, but I like my watches to have a dial or 2 or 3 or even 4.

I think that these will always be specialist pieces for collectors - I don't see too many people having something like this as an only watch, and I don't see them anything other than niche.

Can you post an example of one of the Swiss offerings?

The most well known belt driven watch is the Tag Heuer Monaco V4, but that's slightly different - it doesn't use the belts to display the time. This link is for the concept, but it is now available for around $80,000 - http://www.europastar.com/magazine/cove ... y-tag.html

The more typical look is probably most famously in the Harry Winston Opus 9 - http://watchismo.blogspot.com/2009/03/o ... world.html which comes in at $180,000.

Another watch to appreciate but not for daily wearing for me. Very cool concept!
