Here we go!!! :D

It was a great afternoon/evening with Günter Steinhart... although he had a pretty rough day, he rushed to our meeting at 6 PM yesterday.

We talked shop for about two hours and had our watches prepared by him. Afterwards he even invited us to dinner at his Golfclub. Is there any other head of a watch company, who does something like that? I wouldn't know! So for me Steinhart is THE BEST!

The watch itself... well I've seen quite a few watches in my time and I've seen (and own) about everything Steinhart has made... but I'll have to say, the MARK II is about the best looking watch I've seen from Steinhart so far! :wowzers It's really awesome and I'm sooooo glad I joined this project! :cheer: And I have to thank Altair to get me onboard!

So without further ado - here are the long awaited pictures...

Image
Here the watch is prepared and that's the package you'll get... (the strap is the "Zimt Vintage" - looks terrific - but of course you can choose any strap you like)

Image
...love that new watch smell... still well wrapped and protected!

Image
You can see that new case... it rocks your socks off!

Image
That one on the left is Ralf (Profeus) getting his new watch by Günter Steinhart

Image
And thats me... look at me smiling!

Image
I won't let go... you can pry it from my cold dead hands...

Looking good! Loving those deep subdials, they really add something to the watch imho!

Couple of questions though... (sorry if they're daft ones!)

Is the day wheel in German or English or both? When do we choose straps? Also, I thought the dial was supposed to be a sandwich dial, was this abandoned?

Do we know when the others will be shipping... I'm racing home each night to see if the postie has been yet... excited!!

Cheers!

Dave.

Normally its english... Ralf and I had ourselfs a german wheel installed as a special order...

Don't know... perhaps ask Altair about that or email Günter directly with you choice!

I't seems like it's not really a sandwiched dial. But the subdials are visibly deeper than the rest of the dial... looks great!

I cant't tell you when the watches will ship from Steinhart... I'm guessing in the next two weeks everything will be on the way!

Hi Solo,

   Thanks so much for posting the pictures. That is one hell of a beautiful time piece, many thanks to Altair, Günter and all who have driven the project through to this great conclusion, by the looks of it we have a great watch on the way to us lucky few.

Ian

There is definitely something very wrong here, I still have Gunter's email stating that this is a Sandwich dial? Did you guys have a special order modification???

Just shot Gunter an email asking for an explanation regarding the dial, anxiously awaiting his response!!

That said, the watch does look amazing! And every other feature we had requested is there and executed perfectly.

Great looking watch, congrats to all of you guys who got in on this. I know it's German, but it's kinda weird that the watch says "DIE", I'd feel like my watch was pissed at me. Again, congrats on a great looking watch.

No specials apart from the german daywheel...

I can't say if the dial is a sandwich, or not... it might be as the glossy part definatley stands above the flat subdials... but not as much as with the silver edition from Steinhart, which clearly has a sandwich dial. :|

I'll have to say, I like this way better as the "real" sandwich dials are always a little too deep for my taste... the dial of the Mark II just look perfect this way.

PS. Almost forgot... there are also special paper certificates coming along with the watches, but they have not been printed yet... they'll come the next few days.

Wow...being German myself I never looked at it THIS way. :D

I called GS last friday since I also considered to pick the watch up myself in Augsburg but couldn't manage to drive the 300 km (@Profeus, I guess I really would like to have your day time job :)) he said the watches will start to ship by the middle of this week.

I personally think the watch looks great the way it is including the dial - though I was very curious about how a sandwich dial might "work" on a pilot watch, I am pretty satisfied by the way it looks with the normal numbering.

And btw... I thought there should be no Steinhart-Logo on the dial(?) but I must say that I even prefer it the way it is now. And btw2: Stunning presentation with the wooden box and all. Is this standard on all Steinhart watches?

No, just with most of the LE-Watches... But you could always upgrade your personal order to that box for a little extra €...

They have some great looking watches. I started to check them out after I read about this LE. Their prices are pretty good too and I've heard nothing but great things about the watches. I may need a Pilots watch in the future.
