I sent my watch to BUSA through tourneou about 2 weeks ago for repair of the calendar date. And I just received an email from tourneou today with a repair estimate of $267. On the warranty certificate of my watch that we sent together with the watch says purchase date is 11/29/08. Which is I guess still good until nov29,2010. So when i asked them why the watch is not being covered by the warranty their response was breitling said that when they checked on their system or computer that the watch was purchased on 2007 instead of 2008. Is that possible? My watch is an avenger skyland blacksteel by the way. Does the warranty start once the watch is purchased from breitling by the AD? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Paolo

Aside from the warranty certificate, do you have proof of purchase? Receipt? Credit Card slip? etc.. Are you the original owner or 2nd owner?

Sometimes dealers sell watches and dont properly fill out the warranty card. The warranty begins when the watch is purchased. I've seen warranty cards called "open paper" meaning the dealer never filled in the date at the point of sale. Many people think they can keep the 'open papers" fill in whatever date they want, and then have 2 years from that date for the original warranty; that's not the case. I'm not saying you did that, just a heads up.

As mfserge says the warranty rund from retail purchase, but Breitling will need evidence of that date from you or the store - they don't know when the retail sales actually happens.

I bought my Skyracer at an authorized dealer that failed to fill out the warranty information correctly. When I sent it in for service, Breitling required a copy of the sales receipt before they would perform warranty service. I would have been ticked had I not had the receipt. After all, this was Breitling's dealer that made a mistake, not me.

Wow, not one of the AD Breitlings I bought have warranty books filled out by the AD. One said they haven't had a stamp for some years. Fortunately all the warranty registration cards were filled out and sent to Breitling. So that means all serial #s are in BUSAs system with date of purchase. That's proof enough for BUSA. Of course I've kept receipts too.

If anyone isn't sure whether their watch is registered with BUSA, you can call them. They will give you an email address to send the serial #(s) and usually get you an answer that day.
