Good Afternoon
Well it is in the Uk. This is my first post so I believe I am a "Newbie" I have now realised a lifelong ambition to own an 806. I did some research on the interweb and this forum (which was a great help) and got totally confused, as I did not want to buy a "wrongun" Then I remembered Kurt, I read his article and contacted him to see if any were available, which there were. Kurt has been more than helpful and put up with my endless questions and requests for photo's. So I have purchased an AOPA dialled one which looks great, and now I must wait patiently for the postman, so given an efficient postal service from Denmark to the UK I will have it in my hands next week. I expect this has been said before but I would like to thank Kurt publicly for all his help and patient, he is a gentleman of the highest calibre.
Regards to all Bob.
Thanks Kurt :D :D :lingsrock:

Congratulations and welcome to the 806 club.

Doubtless you got a great example if it came from Kurt.

So I'm certainly not trying to hijack this thread, but my inquiry fits nicely with the topic. I've wanted a Navitimer since I can remember; it's actually the watch that turned me onto the brand. I've been toying with the Navi World, but the more research I do on the vintage Navis, the more it makes me want one.

I'd like to get my hands on an early Navitimer. There's some obvious disagreement about what the earliest one is, so I'm just looking for a year that had some decent production numbers allowing me to find a Navi in really good condition . . . early 60's maybe? Where can a guy find a watch like this in exceptional condition and how much should I expect to pay?

Forgive me if I'm asking obvious questions. I don't frequent the, ahem, "main forum" (i.e. vintage) very often. Any help is appreciated.

-Craig

Take a look at www.navitimer.net and Alan's WUS post - http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=25057

That will give you a good idea of what style you like - there are some big visual differences between 50s / early 60s / mid 60s / late 60s / 70s. There are plenty of watches on eBay and chrono24 and you can ask here for advice on specific pieces.

Prices vary considerably depending on condition and originality - anything from $2,000 - $5,000 for steel.

Thanks for the help, Roff. I'll check out the two links and see if I can nail down exactly what I'm looking for.

It's all a matter of standards my friend. You could go to eBay / chrono24 and become an 806 owner every day of the week, unfortunately the number of 'good' ones is significantly less than the amount of tat.

You speak nothing but the truth... and I will not settle for anything less... I need my 806 to be "complete".

Did I mention Roff I want to be part of the 765 club too?
