Just a very few initial thoughts - I'll do a proper review on the weekend. Photo is with the Point and Shoot with a dead battery so no auto focus - bad even for me, but the weekend will see some better pictures.

This is an extremely well made watch. The first thing that strikes you is the depth of the dial - the dial features are raised above the cotes du jura guilloche. The in house movement is extremely well decorated and the LM logos on the twin mainspring barrels (120 hour power reserve) are a very nice touch.

The strap is well made and the deployant is unique and comfortable. The case is big (54 x 40) but doesn't feel too large because of the way that the strap integrates with the case. The case is also shaped to the wrist which makes a difference.

I'm not sure how to classify this watch - it's way too big and fancy to be a dress watch, but it is elegant.

So far, absolutely thrilled!

Congrats Roff! That dial looks like it has amazing detail. Looking forward to the additional pics. Also quite curious to see some wrist shots to get an idea of the curvature.

And please tell me that the thrill of getting a new watch doesn't grow old

Is it definitely a full in-house movement then? I thought they tended to use movements from elsewhere (admittedly a little more esoteric that ETAs but still not their own) and then substantially rework them. Is this one a full in-house then? Cool if it is.

BTW I always think these have an element of Franck Muller about them design wise. Which is no bad thing at all!

The thrill of a new watch never grows old kstone, at least for me. I only buy pieces that I intend to keep in part because of that thrill - I want a watch that I can connect with on an emptional level and I don't think that I would have that connection if I expected to sell the watch in a few months.

I'll try and take some wrist shots - it wears smaller than 54 as well, but there's no getting away from the fact that it's a big watch (that will doubtless look tiny after the Romain Jerome arrives).

In terms of the movement, in this model it is an in house movement. The Twintech (not the Twintech chrono) movement is based on design drawings by Louis Moinet in the first part of the 19th Century for a twin barrel movement with an additional dial side balance cock. That movement was never produced until now when the company produced it for this watch.

As I previously mentioned I had a chance to acquire a Jules Verne for pretty much 'name my own price', but while the look of the watch excited me, it was a (very heavily) modified ETA - like most LMs, and I couldn't reconcile myself to it. The Romain Jerome was about as much as I would pay for a generic movement (and that at least is a little more exclusive with Concepto) these days, and I got that for way under list.

I had thought about Franck Muller too - it doesn't 'feel' like that on the wrist, but I get the visual cues.

By the way, having worn this for a few hours now, the deployant is incredible. I'll take some shots to show it in the review but it is 'backwards'. It folds in on the inside of the arm rather than the outside - it seems weird at first, but is amazingly comfortable.

Ah yes, I remember reading that now on their North American website. Definitely makes it all the more special IMO.

I'm really starting to appreciate the appeal of a rectangular dial, that really looks very nice. Huge at 54 but if it wears smaller then good. Nice that it's an in-house movement also.
