I just wanted to check and see if I lived in a parallel universe or something but I have an AD (the only one for 180 miles) that refuses to discount a single dime off of the MSRP of their Breitlings. And I mean not a single bloody dime. The price in the price list is the price you pay. Is my AD an exception to the rule? Anyone else have one like this?

The only AD in my city gives 5% on new and 10% on old models (cash only).

Where I live, I can score between 20-28% off depending on the model. Usually 25% though.

As you know Elwyn that's virtually unheard of in the US. I suspect that it's 'we are the only AD for 180 miles so you have to use us' mentality.

It would seem to me that this is the main reason. He's just taking advantage of the fact that is the only AD in 180 miles.

Where I live there are two AD's within a two-hour drive. One tells me Breitling does not let them go below 8-12% discount (I don't know where they made that one up but...) and the other will discount close to 30% off on certain models.

I suspect you guys are correct concerning the "exclusivity" factor of the AD. They really scorch my skillet though with their arrogance. You would think though that they would be a little bit flexible however. I mean a sale is a sale.
Fortunately I'm not in the market for a new watch at the time Roff but you can bet your last dollar I'll be giving George a call should the need arise.

@Bnewbie. I can't believe that you can get 5% off in Croatia!!! I thought that tried to rip you guys off every chance they had there. While 5% is not great it's 5% more than I can get right here in the good ole USA!

I can't understand why they wouldn't discount and this is the only AD I've ever heard of doing that. As always, let me know when you're ready and I cn get you George's info.

The AD in Sacramento said he'd never heard of Breitlings being discounted and said they'd never do more than a 10% sale every now and then. From the sound of it, he was not prepared to offer me even that as his tone of voice was pretty negative on the subject. In the age of the internet, that simply means I'll spend 2K-3K somewhere else.

How about $10 for a single spring bar at my AD?

Lots of AD's in Southern Cal, and I found almost all of them willing to make deals. 25% off was a typical quote and/or starting point. All except a certain chain that starts with "T" and rhymes with "her know". I recently went into one of their locations in the Northeast and was also firmly quoted 0% off, MSRP is what you pay, you will pay sales tax, you will like it, and you should be happy to buy from us.....

In my country ADs do not like discounting. However, where I got my Colt they give 10% discount on any Tag, Omega or Breitling. In the US I would expect anything between 10% and 20% if you pay by cash. If your AD refuses to give 10%+ discount, find another AD.

I just bought a B01 and got 22% off retail with no real hard time. I think anyone wanting full retail in these times is crazy. Good luck
