I have just got hold of my first Breitling. Its a 1997 silver dial Transocean, A53040.

Managed to figure most things out apart from the 10 minute countdown.

Any ideas on how to perform it. When looking at the instructions it seems to just say click the top button, but that just starts the stopwatch.

Any help much appreciated.

Welcome aboard!

I can't help you with the count down function as I've not owned a watch with it, but I think Sonyman on here has, so maybe he will be able to help? Failing that I'm sure there are others with similar watches on here, so hopfully one will stop by soon.

Cheers Driver8, thanks for the welcome.

Waited ages to be able to have the spare funds to trade up to a Breitling. Complete league above my old Longines and dress watches from Ellesse and Armarni, even though its already 14 years old !!

Its a beauty, just need to know how it all works

Hi and welcome to the forum. I've had one of these for 11 years and i have only just worked it out. It's under special features (page 12 ) in the manual. Pull the crown out to position 2 then press the lower push piece to move the minute hand round. It might take a few goes to get it in the countdown position. For years i thought there was a missing hand not realising they use the same one

I think I see what you are saying.

Are you saying the default position for the hand which does minutes on the stop watch (has the red coloured end to it) should be posistioned at the 10 O'Clock position. Mine currently is at 6 O'clock position.

Spot on, though when i did it the Minute hand spun round about three times before landing on the 10'0 clock position. just make sure you turn the chronograph off before you change the minute hand. Steve
