Can't say I really pay attention to the guy very much, but I stumbled across this article in the NYT:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/08/t-magazine/mens-fashion/08mayer.html?WT.mc_id=TM-D-I-NYT-MOD-MOD-M127-ROS-1209-HDR&WT.mc_ev=click&ei=5087&en=0662755ad9d6d0fa&ex=1275973200&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1261099934-BKQ96jL35olwB9JUJbH41Q

It looks like one if his favorites is his Big Pilot. No Breitlings tough....

If nothing else, I think we all have this in common with 'ol Johnny. Otherwise, we wouldn't be on this site so damn much.

“I have an emotional void that I can fill by occupying my brain with the ins and outs of stuff,” he said deadpan.

I always thought he was mainly a Rolex Guy. I had read somewhere that he had a Cutomized Daytona. Altho I have seen him with a vintage Newman as well as Explorer and a Submarnier.

I never thought much of the guy until I heard him Blaze his Strat at Eric Clapton's Bday Party, the guy can play......

Mayer's received a bad stigma because his first couple albums were very "poppy" and appealed more to teenage girls than anyone else. He's said in many interviews that it was his record company that forced him into that style of music, but his true passion has always been jazz/blues. He was able to make an album called "Try!" with a band dubbed the John Mayer Trio, which was very bluesy. As you can imagine, it didn't sell very well. I think his more recent albums, like "Continuum," were able to mesh the best of both worlds of blues and mainstream pop.

I've seen him perform twice. He'll sing his big songs, but he'll add a 4 minute solo jam session to all of them, which makes it much more enjoyable. Kind of reminiscent of Dave Matthews Band live. He's an incredible guitar player. I'll go as far as to say he's in the top 25 off all guitar players ever. I'd personally put him in the top 10, but I think anyone who has any knowledge of guitar would have to put him at least in the top 25. I've also met him in person. He's a strange guy, slightly awkward at times, but seems nice enough.
