Breitling will 'create' a unique face for a production run of 50 or more watches.

Now I fully realise that getting 50 people to 'like' the same model is all but impossible, but I think it would be a really great idea to create a 'Breitling Source' logo on a relatively inexpensive model.

With the expertise available here I'm sure we could create a decent logo, and to think there'd only be 50 in existence would give it a certain 'cachet'.

What do you guys think? I'd be prepared to speak to my AD to get prices etc. and I'm pretty sure he'd do a deal if he was selling 50 watches. He's just done this for the French GIGN (Groupe d´Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale - equivalent to SWAT as far as I can tell) based here in Toulouse.

Just an idea - feel free to shoot me down  or, more constructively, to make suggestions.

I think it's a great idea - from a price perspective we may look at a non European AD unless the discount is really good as a big Euro discount doesn't look so great this side of the Atlantic.

The problem as you point out will be finding a model / colour combo that works for everyone - 50 is a large number for a relatively small community like this. Does anyone know which models are available to be customised??

From what I have heard it's pretty much any model - but this of course needs confirmation - I'll call my AD tomorrow...

Very cool idea, as long as it wouldn't crowd the dial of the piece.

Fortis does a bunch of squadron watches I like.....I would love to see something different from Breitling, not limited to squadrons, but other things as well.

I heard it was some of the Professional models only - notably the Aerospace, the Emergency and the Airwolf.... but I may be wrong. (It's rare, but it has been known. )

Assume it was a reasonable price, and a tasteful logo, then I may well be interested.

Interesting idea, but concensus among 50 people on here could be, er, interesting. The company I work for had a limited run produced a few years back. I missed out then, and cant afford one now :(

That would certainly interest me too! It would be nice to hear about your "freedom of design". It seems in the Fortis example that you're only allowed to design one of the subdials.

Well the replies so far have been positive! I never for one moment thought this was going to be easy - I'll contact my AD today and see what he suggests in terms of models available etc.

I think that sounds like a great idea, I would have to see the final cost before I could commit. I just got a new Steelfish, so the budget is pretty much maxed out at the moment.
If you did want to keep the cost down, I would suggest the Colt Quartz II. There is a posting in the forum about an older model Land Rover Edition, which looks great. I know there is not a lot of love for Quartz, but the new one with the PRO II bracelet, or leather, or rubber, is still an amazing looking watch. It is the most solid Breitling makes, and a quartz that is COSC certified. Even though it is quartz, it is still unique as far as watches go.
Anyway, looking forward to any further developments.
Cheers,
Carl

That would be so cool, but I highly doubt that we could get 50 people to commit to that in this small community.. hell its hard to get 20 guys to commit to a custom knife design that costs $300 in a community 20 times this size!

Noble proposal, and I do wish it will go through so I will not be negative. But how many active members do we have? let alone those passionate about this website?

This is certinely a possibility down the road a few years from now if we have a large enough group. But maybe starting with something smaller, like mugs would be more realistic.

That said I would love a Breitling Source Navitimer or World. A simple design on the caseback would be better IMHO.
