so whats the verdict, cane we go swimming with our E on i havent yet but hate taking it of when on vacation.

Good question!
30m doesn't inspire a lot of comfort but from what I've seen the E seems to be able to handle it (well the one E that I saw anyway  ). Would be nice if you could, however the thought of the insides potentially fogging up does cause concern. Will be interested to hear the consensus

After seeing mr. Grylls in action I think it's safe to assume a little bit of swimming will do it no harm at all.

The Mission has a traditional screw down crown, while the regular E has a multifunction crown that controls all of the features on the digital displays. Thats the reason for such a difference in WR.

But surely it has the same crown as the aerospace, which has 100m WR. :? I know a guy who swims in his aerospace on a regular basis.

beat me to it..Screw down crown has bugger all to do with WR up to 100m. Aerospace, airwolf, B1 all have multi function crowns & they all have better WR than the emergency..sorry RJ. My understanding the B1 & Airwolf are 30m only because of the unique case back..correct me if I'm wrong. The Aerospace & mission are 100m. The Emergency is the worst rating for no apparent reason. It should be the most robust.
It follows if some agree that swimming is ok for the emergency, then equally would you swim with a navitimer. That is the burning question. Same WR of course so you should treat them equally. :poke:

I had a Cosmo once and it fogged up every time when I took a swim with it. I have the E now and it never gives me any indication that swimming is not up to it's standard. I think it maybe has something to do with the Dassault transmitter ? Maybe Dassault will not give permission to rate it any more than splashproof ? Would definately be worth it if some of the head honchos here with severe Breitling connections could find out the truth... it must be out there...?!? WINK WINK

Do the emergency and the emergency mission not have the same transmitter?

This is true, I find myself thinking that I would maybe be willing to swim in an E, but never with my navi! why not? the WR is the same officially. I get the feeling the pushers and crown are somehow less WR on the navi, and maybe it is less well sealed all round.

Would be interesting to hear from someone like Roff or Driver on this one.

Not sure why the WR is different, but I sure as heck wouldn't swim with it.

If I saw someone on TV jumping a car over a school bus it wouldn't make me think that I could go jump my car over a school bus.

Similarly, if I see someone in a TV show (that has previosuly been accused of being somewhat faked) getting their Emergency wet then it wouldn't make me think that it was OK.

There are no guarantees that the watch will or won't get water in it, but really - what's the upside? What do you gain by swimming in a watch that the manufacturer says shouldn't be used for swimming?

To me the answer is simple - you risk the watch for no gain, and that's not me!

I do agree that it is odd that this watch doesn't have greater WR - presumably if you have to ditch a plane in the sea then there is a fairly good chance of the watch getting more than splashed - and you still want the transmitter to work!

Yep, it's the same.

True, but i'm guessing that the free service is for normal wear and tear and a battery change, i'm not sure they'd be so chuffed if you sent it in with water damage!
