Why in the world would anyone refer to a high line, magnificent timepiece as a "LING"?? Sounds like some kind of cheap chinese knock-off ! How about "bright" or "bling"?? C'mon all you Breitling owners out there, come up with something more appropriate. Perhaps some of our "intellectually superior" folks out there in California can produce something for us Breitling owners to use..............

Well I'll take the bait.

Why do people own BMWs call them "Beemers?"

Why do people who own Rolls Royces just refer to them as their "Rolls?"

Why do people who own Cadillacs call them "Caddys?"

Because it's a term of endearment and anyone who appreciates them for what they are, people who are "intellectually superior" if you will, don't make an issue out of something so trivial.

Simple minds are easily amused - thus, we are not.

That's why.

Beemer begins with a B and also has an M
Rolls is the first word in Rolls Royce
Caddy begins with Cad as in Cadillac

Personally I call mine Breitlings, but I have to be honest............

I'm not sure what the issue is that is so emotive.

Ajent, I also call my watches Breitlings and sometimes Lings....its really no big deal. And to you Drtymrtini since you live in Chi-Town as well we should hook up and have a cocktail and discuss "Lings" sometime. I live north of the city. Pm me if interested. Rick

I don't really see it as a big deal myself either. To be honest though, I would feel more silly calling it a "Breitty" or a "Breitter" than calling it a "Ling".

Not sure what your rationale is, but no, I don't have more. You said in your opening post that you "intellectually superior folks" in California could come up with something better - but you have made no suggestions.

Time to put up or shut up. Let's see what you got :nana:
