Hey Vanessa, It is a Valjoux 7750 based movement

Sounds like the date finger slipped underneath the date disc...
Maybe a loose screw? Or setting the date between the wrong times can cause this as well, but you already ruled that out.
Definately needs to be taken apart. Sorry...
