Dear Community,

this Breitling was sold as a Yachting. Interestingly, I found out the first Yachting got released in 1989 and thus the receipt stating the sale happened in 1984 cannot be true.
Moreover, the caseback shows a airplane typical for the 1984 AOPA 81950. This is a bit unusual for a Yachting, isn't it?
Additionally, the booklet sold with the Yachting shows the 1984 AOPA.

Therefore my concern is, that the seller had the papers for the AOPA and mounted the caseback on a replica Yachting to sell it as a legit Breitling.

Can anyone in the forum support my arguments?

Thanks for any help!

The watch is genuine, caseback also, maybe not from the same watch, but ref# matches.
Can you take better photos of a bracelet, clasp and end links?

Yes, I provide you with more photos as soon as Australia Post delivers my parcel. Tomorrow most likely!
But how can it be, that the matching numbers from the Caseback and the papers are from 1984, if the Yachting got released in 1989?

I meant on ref#, not serial.
It matches bcs that ref# was used for a longer period on Chronomats of that era.
Papers you have don't belong to your watch.

Yes, that all looks really fishy too me.
Wristband ist not originial and the rubberband is too new for a !98o's watch, guarantee does not match, the booklet does not match and the bezel does not seem to fit 100% on the case (if you look at the watch from the profile)

Kind Regards to the community

Looks like the bezel spring is "too thick", maybe aftermarket.
Bracelet is not OEM, but strap might be.

i'm new here, so bear with me. I have a fake Breitling Emergency E56121.1 that a friend of mine bought in Kuwait City while we were both "security consultants". It is a beast and wearing it will probably put your back out or stop you from walking in a straight line. I had it cleaned by my local watchmaker who told me it had a Miyota movement in it. He thought the case might be real, but who knows. My friend's brother-in-law works in Hong Kong (for how much longer?) and says that all the major watch companies have parts manufactured in the region and this might be an overage that some shifty character scooped up and sold on to another shifty character in Kuwait. The watch sports one of those curious "backwards" bezels, you know where the 45 minute marker is next to the 3 o'clock position and the 15 minute market is next to the 9 o'clock position. Anyway, I looked at every single model in breitlingsource.com and couldn't it anywhere. The closest thing was one of the Emergency watches, but even so the bezel and face were wrong. Usually a fake is a copy of the real deal, but I haven't found one that resembles this one. See the attached photosImage

I know that it is a fake, but didn't know just how complete a fake it was. Is it a straight copy and, if so, of which model? My friend bought it for the princely sum of $60, so I have no illusions and promise I won't sulk if you tell me that it is a mish-mash of various styles and models. I think it is a good idea that every watch collection should have one genuine fake watch as a conversation piece. I own a Chinese Rolex GMT Master II that keeps the worse time in the world, but looks flashy as hell. My watchmaker took one look inside and shook his head and rolled his eyes at me.

It does rather depend where one lives. The very purchase and ownership of counterfeit goods is illegal for example in France and Italy, with steep fines.

It intended to be Emergency... https://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_d ... al_35.html
Not even near, IMHO.

I wanted to know about its external appearance. Which Breitling model is it supposed to look like, to be a copy of?

While I'm at it; what is the purpose of having a "backwards" bezel?

It was bought in Kuwait City. As far as owning counterfeit watches goes, my local watchmaker receives a lot for repair and doesn't bat an eyelid when one comes through the door. I refuse to wear a fake. Aside from the fact that they're inaccurate as hell, it would be embarrassing to be called out on it.

I agree. The case back and strap look good, but I haven't been able to find the face on any of the models shown. Any thoughts on the "backwards" bezel?
