Picked up this watch from a local pawnbroker. I examined under a loupe, all markings are crisp and logos look sharp. Took it to an AD (Ben Bridge) to look at as well. They didn’t use a loupe but the rep looked at it in detail and said he had no doubts about its authenticity.

It sounds like the rotor is loose and the AD said it needs to be sent in for service. I just don’t want the embarrassment of unknowingly sending in a fake (or have it confiscated by the service center). I’m also nervous I’ve wasted a good sum of money. But hoping the loose rotor I hear is just because this is a 10-12 year old watch.

Please note any blurriness in text/ logo on dial is just due to the way my camera focused. Pictures taken under bright LED light. Tried to reduce reflections as much as possible.

Welcome to the forum. Looks good to me, I'm not aware of any convincing fakes of this model.

Thank you everyone!

What got me nervous about it was the way it sounds.

I will send it in for service. What’s the best practice for this? Take to a dealer and have them send it in? Send directly? Drop off at a boutique ?

Either is fine, but it also partly depends where you live. Here in the UK I've always sent my watches in to BUK direct, but if you live somewhere that doesn't have a Breitling Service Centre in-country, then going via an AD will be much safer. Going via an AD is also quite nice as once it's out of your hands, then the "problem" of insuring it becomes their problem, although I also know of AD's who charge for the privilege. Personally (and I've seen how some AD handle people's watches) I like to have as few other people handling my watches as possible - hence why I like to go direct.

OK everyone thank you for all your help! I received back from the service center. Full overhaul (They said it didn't look like it had a service in quite a long time) and new AR Crystal and fully polished! New hands and re-lumed. Amazing! A great experience with the CT Service center. Cost about half what I paid for the watch, but I consider this a lifetime piece, so worth it. Thanks again!
