I asked the seller for a serial number and he came back with the model number which can be see in the pictures with the listing. My suspicions are aroused because the hour marker at one o'clock is fitted the wrong way round. It looks to be a very good fake. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/breitling-ben ... 3ce9493151 I tried uploading a picture but it keeps getting rejected as too large. Hopefully someone can comment before the listing is removed. |

I don't want to make this call but if I were a betting man (and I am ) I'd call fake numbers on the bracelet are diff from an original piece , and why would the marker be up side down ? |

If you use the basics of ebay- buy the seller, are the pictures excellent, is the history accurate, does the item description sound legit- in all areas it is no. It's a fake and the fellow selling it is a crook- reported |

yes, pics are very bad, but I know of no GT fakes that are that good, sliderule, date window, subdial spacing all seem correct, all fonts matching. hour marker might have been incorrectly "repaired". pics of this & gen below. ![]() ![]() |

It's real, with marker glued upside down. |

Maybe I am naive but you would hope that eBay has a database to validate reports against. I can't believe that this one got sufficient reports from known reporters for it to be removed otherwise. |

It was on UK ebay and they are far best in removing. Maybe they removed it on one report by member dinobaggio (when he thought he was sure about being fake). |

Interesting debate on why this was removed. I didn't report it. I advised the seller it seemed to be genuine but badly repaired. Mostly eBay UK are slow to remove fakes so I was as surprised as anyone to see it gone. I doubt if eBay has any database of fakes as they repeatedly get relisted on new accounts within a few days. It seems to me they rely on a combination of reports from trusted users and the obvious signs of a listing at 99p from a new account with virtually no attempt at an honest description (with appalling grammar/spelling mistakes and lack of punctuation). The usual suspects: "It was left to me by a dead relative"; "found it in a house clearance"; "lost papers and box in a house move" etc. |
