With the recent thread about a quality chronomat fake on another watch forum, I present to you one for sale on ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/390877514467?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTYwMFgxMTg3/ ... 3/$_57.JPG

Incorrect reference
Sunken date wheel
Subdials too far apart
"cuir" stamped on strap
Poor quality stamping on caseback.

The vertical striping on the dial and the roman numerals assist greatly in helping to determine that the subdials are too far apart. If they start producing this with batons it will be very difficult to tell, especially with a black datewheel.

Please report.

Thanks

Good spot. I wouldn't have given this a 2nd glance. The only really obvious thing wrong to me is the wrong ref number prefix.

Date font is not so perfect and numbers on the bezel aren't sharp, but the overall look is scary good.

They seem to be using a wider range of common serial numbers, I've found 3001xxx, 3002xxx and 3003xxx. but it could be the entire 300xxxx range.

Here are some close up pics. Look at vertical striping (is that the correct term?) and where it does or doesn't intersect the subdials. Look at the roman numeral IIII and see how it relates to the minute subdial.

Due to the subdials being spaced too wide the lume markers at 3 and 9 oclock have also been "squashed" from a square into a rectangle.
