Post subject:  Chronomat 44 Real or Fake?
After 20 years of drooling I finally purchased an Avenger Skyland off Craigslist which came with the box, papers, extra links, extra 436X black leather strap with deployment and even the original receipt from the AD. I couldn't be happier. However it has the ProII bracelet and I've always wanted a Pilot bracelet. So I went back to Craigslist and saw this...

I have compared it to a close Chronomat 44 on the Breitling website and it looks authentic to me except for the Pilot bracelet. I don't see any numbers etched on it.

Could you gents take a look and tell me what you think?

Yes, fake. The sunken date and wrong font is the giveaway and the spacing of the subdials will be slightly out too.

Stay away from those dodgy sites. 90% of the watches on Craigslist, Gumtree, et al. are fake. The only general listing I would trust is Ebay.

I did get my Skyland from the same sight but like I said it came with everything and all the serial numbers matched up with the paperwork. However thanks to this sight I knew what to look for in the bracelet as well.

I just left my local AD where I tried on the REAL watch and honestly I like the Skyland better. The Chronomat with the Pilot bracelet is just too pretty and dressy for what I will use it for which is a daily watch that will be getting sprayed by salt water 3 to 5 days a week sailing.... I am getting the Ocean Racer rubber strap with deployment clasp in the next day or so and then I will have three bands which effectively makes it three watches!! :mrgreen:

Going by the date of manufacture on your signiture your Avenger may be in need of a service if it has has one recently.
