watchfred, I don't know how you manange to do it, but the amount of time and effort you spend identifying these fakes is both very impressive and very much appreciated. The more of these we can get of the market the better. Along those lines, is there anything more that can be done besides reporting them to ebay? Sure, ebay will remove the listing but the seller will simply sell it through other avenues be it the flea market, craigslist, gumtree etc etc. Has anyone thought about purchasing the fake, and then trying to claim a refund through paypal (because it is a fake) and then simply disposing/destroying it. Would that be legal / doable? Just a thought. At least that way the seller is deprived of the item which they would have used to dupe unsuspecting buyers, although I suspect they could just as easily obtain more of them. |

If I could 100% guarantee a refund each time, I would love to buy up all the fakes on Ebay and smash them to pieces. |

thanks, but I'm far from alone in this - and for me it's "just" a side effect of my hunting sprees on ebay for the "perfect vintage grail". Identifying the fakes I'm listing is easy - the tricky "spotting" is mostly done by Adrian. |

eBay already has a program where copyright owners - Breitling in this case, can help to identify fakes and eBay will take stronger action, plus of course any of the watch brands could buy the pieces themselves. Breitling chooses not to participate so there you go. To be fair to them there are many, many millions of fakes produced each year and all that any of us can do is scratch the surface. |
