Post subject:  Newbie Needs Help with Superocean GMT - Part 1

Hello All,

My wife bought a Superocean GMT from Watchery.com for me. It's a beautiful watch, but I am concerned about its authenticity. I've been spending the past couple days learning about Breitling and how to tell a fake from a real one on the internet. This watch seems to have all the legit features (embossed logo with a good-looking anchor, sliver pin holding the center dial, blue tint when it's under a certain lighting angle, model # and serial # on the back, bracelet with model # and dimension etched on it). What got my alarm up was the COSC that came with this watch. I first thought it was a certificate of authenticity, but then I learned on this site that there is no such thing for Breitling. Nevertheless, a couple things about it got me worried a little. First, unlike other COSC images I found online, this one doesn't have a number on the front of it. There is a sticker on the back of it (see attached photo). Underneath the sticker seems to be a magnetic strip of some sort. Printed on the sticker is what I assume the serial # (it has the same number of digits). The serial # on the back of the COSC doesn't match the serial number on the watch. I don't know how big a deal this is and if I should call Watchery.com about it. I will appreciate if the experts here can take a look at the pics I included and let me know if there's obvious flaw with this watch. I'll appreciate if there is additional information you can provide to help me tell whether this is an authentic watch. I'll upload a few more pics (each posting is allowed 5 only) in the "Part 2" posting.

Thanks a lot for your help!

It's real, COSC is the new style. Serial numbers should match so you need to contact the dealer.

Really apprecaited your input! I had tried to contact Watchery.com through email and by phone and couldn't not even get a response. I was put on hold for 20 mins and then got hung up on or put back to the phone queue again. Without turning this into a discussion on gray market watches (I do understand you get what you paid for), I would love to get the correct COSC, even though I've no plan of selling the watch. I doubt I will ever get the right COSC from Watchery, and from the posts I've seen, it seems going through local AD gives the best shot, provided the watch is distributed through BUSA. Gray market watches are likely not distributed through BUSA, so I guess I just have to forget about the COSC.

Breitling can order a replacement COSC. I assume that you are in he US as you refer to BUSA but there is no reason why they can't facilitate Breitling replacing the COSC for a non US watch. Approach with the grey market dealer might be 'if you want the COSC for a watch that you still have in stock back, you had better send me mine'.
