Hi All,

My boyfriend received a Breitling as a gift a few years ago. I know nothing about it, only that he loves it dearly. Some time ago, the link broke and he has not been able to wear it (plus it doesn't seem to be running anymore). I would like to have it repaired for him, but understand this can be a lengthy and pricey process.

I would like to know from the experts here:

1. Is this Breitling an authentic piece?
2. What model is it? I'm assuming it's an automatic?
3. Does it seem old enough that it would need major repairs/maintenence?
4. Is there a reliable place I can have it looked at near Washington, DC? I know of two authorized locations: Swiss Watch Repair (NYC) and HOROLOGICAL SERVICES (PA), but neither of these is really that close.

Thanks all!
Ann

I have to agree, not a genuine Breitling I'm afraid.

It's a fake with a Chinese movement that is not worth repairing.

Hi all,

Thanks for the responses. I'm so saddened to hear that you all think it's a fake! The watch really means so much to him b/c a good friend of his gave it to him - some friend! Can you tell me how you can identify that it's a fake? I'm actually thinking I won't even tell him it's a replica...don't want to break his heart :-(

A present from a friend is a present, regardless of its value. Sadly the kindest course of action may be honesty. The friend may not be a watch expert and gave it in good faith. The bottom line is it isn't a Breitling and is not worth repairing. The guys on here know Breitlings inside out and whilst I'm not as knowledgeable as many I know that it doesn't resemble any Breitling model.

I'm not being facetious here, but for the money you were perhaps contemplating spending on getting that watch sorted and serviced - Breitling servicing is not cheap - you could go some way to getting him a real (secondhand) one.

Really isn't a bad idea, might be able to get a Colt on eBay

:welcome:

Sorry to have to confirm what the others have said. It's a cheap fake and nothing like the genuine model.

The genuine SuperOcean looks like this.
