Can someone confirm my suspicion that this is a fake.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-BREITLING ... 27d461ab06

The price seems a little low but isn't the genuine Croco for a Deployant fitment a 744P and not 738P.

Also the sections should be 90 and not 80 for the short side and 110 and not 115 for the long side.

Thanks all.

strap is clearly fake - and looks like "croc" stamping on calf

Well 744P is a black 22-20 deployment. 738P is gold 22-20 deployment according to the handbook. 22-20 also come as 90/110 size. I've been a bit suspicious of this bloke for a while as he just seems to have too many of the same items. I definatly can't say fake from the photos though.

I've been suspicious for a while as well given the number he has, and the prices he sells them for. I notice on his feedback goonermike bought one... would be interesting to hear his thoughts now that he has his hands on it?

Thanks DrJ, you have shed some light on this.

Mike was duped earlier this year (his own admission- see link HERE) and, true to his pedigree, he removed it from his thread straight away.
bnewbie highlighted the issue in Mike's sale. I credit him with being extremely knowledgeable on these details and hopefully will give us his well informed take this time too but I anticipate he will confirm what we all suspect.

I should mention though, Mike did state that on that occasion he had bought from a 300+ 100% profiled e-bay member so this may be a different seller (175 =100%profile).....or possibly the same seller under a different name???.

My understanding is that 22-20's come as 90/110 size ONLY. That's what drew my attention to this one as it's tagged 80/115. You are of course correct in that the 738P is the right number for the Gold Croc deployant strap. The 744P is the black one as I should know ( I own one   )

Fake for me too. The giveaway is the lack of ribbng detail inside the wings on the embossed logo.

Don't have handbooks near me, but it looks like same fake Mike bought (except color).

findo : yeah I saw that thread, but that was actually a different strap. Mike bought a blue croc recently from super joop... I'll PM him for his thoughts

Hmmm,

Pics below of what I received. It feels right, but difficult to be sure. Ref is correct, Colour is a mid blue (correct), and lengths 90 and 110 correct for a deployant strap I think. Clasp has 'old style' impressed logo, but looks right.

Checked with images at authenticwatches.com and it looks the same, refs identical. '747P' is the correct ref for a 24-20 Deployant strap in blue.

I think a trip to Andrew Michaels is going to be the only way to give a definitive real/fake verdict...

...unless anyone knows better?

Mike

Just wondering, if anyone with better eyesight than me, has checked the amount of stitches compared to the genuine ones ?

I have my doubts about that blue croc strap too. They way the 'Manufacture en' and 'Suisse' are mis-aligned is a classic signature of fakes.

@ Mike
Is this the same blue croco strap you asked me to verify?
Might be bait and switch, because it doesn't look right, as well as deployant and Adrian is also suspicious about it. I'm sure it was real one on the link you provided 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Hi Bnewbie,

No, it's not the same one you looked at for me - that was a Dark Blue Tang 746P, from a Jeweller in the US, which has arrived OK, and is fine (see here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271225284566? ... 26_rdc%3D1 ).

I'll get the questionable Dutch-sourced strap inspected next time I'm at Andrew Michaels.

Cheers

Mike

I don't think you'll be happy with the answer.
