I am new to this forum and Breitling in general and wanted to see if the watch I'm looking at on the bay is real and accurately described:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/121038630984?ss ... 2649#payId

According to the seller, the watch is 100% authentic and original; however, in reading a brief history of the Chronomat line, it seems like the B13047 shouldn't have the "1884" on the dial, nor the "B" on the short side of the second hand. Those appear to be traits of the B13048 and later models. Any help is greatly appreciated seeing as I'm really wanting to get it and the listing is ending in the next couple hours.

Thanks,

Timastyle

Thanks Scotspuppy. Sorry for my ignorance, but what's the difference between the D13047 and the B13047? Also, seeing that the B13047 in my link is "bi-color" (i.e. stainless and gold), shouldn't the stamping on the back have a gold fill or is this not necessarily the case? I thought I saw some pics of the bi-color and the stampings had a filling in them.

Thanks,

Timastyle

Thanks! Yes, time is running out. So it looks real to you?

Can anyone else provide some quick input on real or fake?

Welcome aboard.
It's completely real.
If you have any questions, just ask.

Thanks for the response. Did the original ever have the "B" on the second short hand or could it have just just been replaced during a service like Scotspuppy's watch?

You are welcome.
Original didn't have "B" (it came with 13048, as well as 1884 on the dial), but hands are always changed during the service and dials went to 13047 and 13048 during transition period. Date font is older and and time correct. Caseback is also correct.

Unfortunately, I didn't put my max bid high enough. I was the high bid with 3 seconds left before someone outbid me. Lesson learned. I'm sure I'll find another one. :(

Sorry to hear that.
Just a small ebay tip, enter your max bid in the last 5 seconds.

I did it with 8 seconds actually. I've had issues in the past with anything less than that and the internet connection sometimes being slow and not getting my bid in on time. The person that outbid also did the same as me and bid a few seconds after I did. Oh well. I'll find one.

Thanks for your help guys and I'm sure I'll be back here asking for opinions again.

Real again. As a general rule, fakes of Chronomats prior to the Evolution model (x13356) are not very good. So for a verison of this era, if the subdials have the correct markings & spacings and the case/bezel/pusher/crown shape looks right, the watch is real.
