This Datora looks fake to me based on the slide rule hashes (too much distance to dial) and strap says "cuir" instead of croco. Seller is a 4600+ 100% feedback seller.

I think it is real Datora.

This is an odd one. The strap and outer sliderule scale are fake, but dial looks okay. (From memory, the gap between the 25-26-27 dates is wrong on the fake but this one looks okay). Maybe its a fake/real franken.

Edit: Here is the quality fake. I doubt there is a new improved version of the fake as its now a discontinued model:

hmmmmm. sliderule gaps are huge, but caseback looks correct. my bet isthat the watch is fake, worryingly good in some aspects, strap defintely is fake.

edit: Adrain seems to have similar doubts. need Roff and bnewbie.

Yea, I wasn't sure about this one at all. That slide rule and strap were the only things I could see that were definitely off.

I don't think that it's an outright fake. The outer sliderule is definitely wrong as noted, but I'm surethat the caseback and dial are real, the handset looks correct and so does the bezel. I suspect that it's a real piece that may have had an unauthorised service.

So what's the normal policy for something like this? Let it go or report it or what?

Wait for other people to offer opinions!

As of right now what exactly would you report it for? The strap is a bit dubious, but seller doesn't claim that it's OEM Breitling.

Yeah, its just an odd instance it seems. I wouldn't be happy with that slide rule or strap but the main watch itself seems real. Hopefully whoever ends up with it realizes the inconsistencies.

This is what I got... I imagine most are explained through model variation but these were thing things that struck me as the most off...

Image Image

-The chronographs do not appear to be recessed on the one in question
-The red appears weaker although it may be the photo
-PINK--The notches on the slide rule look sharper on the one in question
-DARK GREEN--The triangle next to the 35 is wider on the one in question, and narrower on the comparison. The three triangles next to it show that it is not a camera angle as they are all the same side
-RED--The second hand notches are not as distinct on the presumably real one
-DARK BLUE--The 0 is more circular on the real and more boxed on the one in question—this applies to the outside numbering only
-BRIGHT BLUE--Notice the “O” in “NOV” is not the same
-ORANGE--The red triangle over NAUT is almost touching the U on the one in question, but is further away on the other picture
-ASPARAGUS--The 1/3 second marking lines are longer on the one not in question
-DARK RED--The letter spacing on OMETRE is different
-BRIGHT GREEN--On the inner 80 and 90, you can not see a space between the two characters on the one in question

I don't have any doubts (note the too light 100th of an hour scale, also) so I'll report it.

excellent spotting; worryingly good fake. this adds another model to the "never without complete sets of papers" group.

So does this mean that for this model, an AD stamped and printed booklet is really the only way to be positive?

What are the odds eBay actually removes this?

For someone with less experience with "quality" fakes, yes.

We'll see, sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.

That's scary; and frustrating :( Do you think there is a good chance the movement matches the outside's trend of being so similar?

...I hope Breitling hurries up with their electronic ID system
