Really hard to tell with these - before the introduction of the 'raised' logo, the 'better' fakes were quite often impossible to tell apart from the real thing, especially from pictures, and even in the flesh.
Similar story with the tang buckles.
One giveaway was that some fakes were of such poor quality steel, that the 'stamped' logo would partially show through on the back, but that's not definitive by any means.
Any other tips on spotting the fakes?
I'm sure this has been covered many times before.
