Fake deployant buckles?

Are the first two buckles fake? I thought the wings were embossed like the last link.

Really hard to tell with these - before the introduction of the 'raised' logo, the 'better' fakes were quite often impossible to tell apart from the real thing, especially from pictures, and even in the flesh.

Similar story with the tang buckles.

One giveaway was that some fakes were of such poor quality steel, that the 'stamped' logo would partially show through on the back, but that's not definitive by any means.

Any other tips on spotting the fakes?

I'm sure this has been covered many times before.

The old adage applies - 'buy the seller'.

Thanks, I just never thought they would try to fake buckles and tangs but I guess if you sell enough of them its worth their while.

There is one being sold here that is stamped rather than the raised wings.

Thanks Roff, I just thought that it was odd that it's the newer deployant and 3 are stamped and one is embossed. I figured that they would all be the same. The one in England had a price that was too good to be true.

Second and third are definitely real.

The first one was the buckle that had a price that seemed to be way too low.
