There is a thread right now about a super avenger in the replica section:

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=38409

Some of the forum elite aren't sure if it's real or fake. Isn't one genuine exactly like the next genuine? I know of course that reps can vary, but would think this is a non-issue since I would assume each genuine looks exactly the same?

Also curious on fakes that I have seen (such as those with various complications), do any of the "features" actually work?

Tbh , I've never seen a Super Avenger replica in the flesh, well not that i know of. The only ones i have seen have been from dealers. What struck me is, how confusing and difficult the whole issue of spotting a fake is. If it can fool or confuse even the experts on here what chance has the average guy in the street....i.e. me, got of knowing if you have bought the genuine article.
Thought of the day, how many of you have unbeknown to yourselves replicas in your collection. :|

I think the problem with the SA is twofold.

Firstly, some of the fakes are very good.

Secondly the options and differences available for a model that has been around for 8 (?) years now. Changes to the logo, move from non-stenciled to stenciled numbers, adding of AUTOMATIC above 6 o'clock dial, differences on lume between numbers and batons, swiss made on numbers not on baton dial, etc. So unless you have all of the genuine versions to hand it can be pretty tough.

Spotting fakes used to be dead easy. Anyone with no prior knowledge of Breitlings could spend a couple of mins of the internet and determine whether a watch is real or not. Hell, some even came with "Made in Switchinternet" on the back!! (Oh and even that still caught some people out! )

But in recent years, the fakes have become much more accurate, and within the last year or so we've started to see some fakes that are pretty much indistinguishable from the genuine item. The SOSF is one, the later SA's are another, and the new SO models are most definitely another example of the "super-fakes". As has been noted, it's getting very tough to spot them now, even from hi-res pictures.

I'd personally never buy any of those 3 that I mentioned above from a non-approved source now, and especially without B&P's.

It looks to me like it has the typical jacked up lume dots that the old skyland fake use to have. I wouldnt buy it, but thats just my guess.

Generally true - the same model variation of a genuine will be the same from piece to piece. Some fakes are extremely well done. There are very very good fakes and very very bad ones.

Also curious on fakes that I have seen (such as those with various complications), do any of the "features" actually work? Typically even the best fake chronographs have Asian copy movements. They can run and work well forever or fail quickly. They can't be repaired, because parts aren't avialable. But the good fakes with simple 3 hand plus date features often use actual ETA 2824-2 movements, but the lowest grade. About the same movement you would get in a $1000 micro-brand dive watch.
