Post subject:  fake watches time keeping accuracy
are the accuracy of time keeping of those fake Breitlings any good?
I'm talking about those so called replicas, high quality fakes with chinese or even swiss made mechanical movements...
a real Breitling should keep time at COSC specifications, what about those replicas?

It may be of interest as a potential clue to a watch's authenticity, when someone hasn't had a chance to have the case opened yet.

High quality fake with a Chinese made mechanical movement... :mrgreen: :lol:

yeah, I realized that, sorry :mrgreen:
anyway I was referring to the chinese 7750 and other ETA copy.

my curiosity originated from same reason Mr wrangler stated.
so what if you can't spot any inaccuracy on the outside of the watch? say you got a Breitling from the auction and you want to have one last clue before having an AD opening the case, are those fakes going to keep time at COSC specs?

If properly serviced and regulated, Chinese movements such as those made by Seagull or Hangzhou will definitely keep to within COSC spec so a Chinese movement per se is not the issue. The issue is that fake watches probably use reject/lowest quality Seagull/Hangzhou/whatever movements and usually have absolutely no QC/servicing/regulation before sale. Therefore, unless the buyer has had the watch serviced/regulated post sale, it's unlikely it will perform to COSC spec.

Neither would a perfectly authentic Breitling/ETA movement in need of servicing perform according to COSC standards, even some new and original Breitlings some time do not live up to the claimed standards, as a short search in this forum will confirm.

So no, I do not think it would be a relevant indication a watch is a fake if it does not keep time according to COSC, watching that instead of looking for the many other well documented tells would b a waste of time and effort, just publish a pic of the watch you are unsure about on the forum, most probably you will have your verdict in promptly.

yeah, I realized Breitling QC is not all that perfect at all... my Seawolf came with a crown that looks like someone did over polish it, it's way too rounded on the edges.... but it's a never used brand new piece from a trusted source....

I'll post some pictures on another thread since it's getting a little off topic...

I don't even understand why people wants to have a watch they can't afford, and end up getting a fakey...
if it's not real, it's just junk and I would prefer to get a Casio instead....
