Post subject:  Breitling Montbrillant Olympus Fake or Not?

New to forum and I have run across this on ebay. The second hand has a fleur-de-lis style end as opposed to the small bulge on pics I have seen. Is this a Fake because I can't seem to find an example with the same fleur-de-lis style. The seller has told me it is a limited edition but does not have papers. Just looking for some expert opinions.

Thanks in advance.

Good spot! The watch is undoubtedly real (there are fakes but they're not accurate) but I've never seen this style of chrono second hand used before. The only limited edition Olympus I know of is the red gold R19350 http://www.breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=32544 If this watch was a limited edition, I would expect it to have xxx/500 or whatever on the case back so I don't buy the explanation from the seller.

Since Breitling hands usually have to be replaced if removed, my guess (and that's all it can be) is that the chrono seconds hand has been replaced by a non Breitling approved watchsmith at some point in time. Which begs the question as to why it was removed.

If you do decide to buy, I would advise you send it for a full service at Breitling which would be returned with the correct hands.

excellent spot ! definitely non-Breitling replacement, would bother me on such a relatively young watch, am afraid more was wrong with it.

It's real as has been said, but I would avoid this.

A semi-perpetual movement that was serviced by a non authorised watchmaker could have any number of problems that you only find out about when the watch is sent to Breitling. There are others out there with a better history.

The serial number matches the Montbrillant Olympus, but the chronograph second hand is for sure a replacement.
