Saw this for sale, but the space (what is it called???) between the crystal and the face seems wide? Is this fake?

OK,

So I just got a PM from nr123 containing a link to a replica forum stating that the watch was fake.

A few points.......

1) I couldn't access the forum because apparently you need a membership to see it
2) Why would you ask whether a watch was real if you already knew that it was fake?
3) Passing a fake off as real is reason to be banned from the forum that nr123 linked to!

Clearly if this watch is fake then it's one of the 'assembled' pieces that we see every now and then, their are bigger concerns and questions for me as a result of this thread.

I was pretty convinced this was real...
Any explanations as of yet on how this watch is fake?

Don't really care to be honest. The replica forum that the OP found this on has some members who will go out of their way to try and build a 'perfect' fake, perhaps even a real watch made up of pieces. They end up paying close to resale prices for a real one and still end up with a fake so I don't get it, but oh well.

One thing that they do not do is try and pass them off as real - it's the first rule there and the last time that someone posted a watch from that site here they were banned from both places.

Why do you think I sent you the message as a PM rather than on the board? Last thing I wanted to do was damage anyones credibility, that's why I sent it privately. More so just to show what's out there without making reference to a website with fakes - would think you would be interested in seeing how good fakes have been lately so as to help others.

The fact that you sent it as PM is bluntly the only reason that you haven't been banned, if someone else had advised me that this was from a replica forum then you have been banned - it's happened before. You will be banned from the replica forum if they find out what you did.

There are many, many ways that you could have posted this watch here to get your point across - perhaps something like "Hey, believe it or not this is a fake, it's on a replica forum".

You didn't see it for sale, and you knew that it was fake before ever you posted it here. You have been here long enough to know the attitude towards fakes and hopefully you have learned a lesson. If you find a fake and want to educate members then post it honestly. When people are not completely honest about fakes then the question becomes 'why'.

I have received confirmation from a source that I trust that this watch is real - that's why we couldn't find anything wrong with it.
