From time to time my BOT turns up with interesting pieces from our friends, the MuseumLoungeLurkers:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BREITLING-Uhr-Col ... 1414932012

But why not in the vintage thread, as this vintage watch is from 1951 ?

I do not post pictures, as those are copyrighted, but quoting the text is enough:
"this Colt has nothing to do with the cheap Colts of the 80s and 90s"
"It is an extremely rare collectors piece from 1951"
"powered by an ETA Automatic movement Caliber 2824-2"

Quite surprising, as this movement was introduced by ETA in 1982 !
The case is a typical 70s/80s diver that happens to have a serial number on it that falls in a range Breitling happened to use in 1951,
they just crudely repainted the dial, put 1884 on it for good measure, and voila: a rare collectors piece is born !
waterproof to 500m, also quite innovative in 1951.

As they are powersellers with 5000+ feedback, ebay will probably not delete this listing easily, but this is clearly fraudulent, as they can not really claim they did not know this watch is a poor fake, not even a replica !

Would be nice to read Michael´s explanation, why this is authentic, actually.

That is one rough looking piece of junk.
Looks like the logo has fallen off (just holes left)
The date looks a mile out.

I'm sure you guys will correct me, but I don't think "1884" branding was used on Breitling until the 1990s

I almost hope that Michael reads this with his (sixth?) lurking membership - I'm sure he has one that hasn't been banned yet.......

There have long been questions about his pieces, but recently he has gone from the realms of questionable conduct to outright fraud. He claims to be an expert and he claims that he is in negotiations with Breitling's lawyers for them to buy his collection, and of course he seems to have exclusive sources for 'rare and unique' Breitlings, but this is ranging on the pathetic.

I am reporting this, and I am going to post a photo, but with the disclaimer that the photo is copyright of Michael / Breitling Lounge and is being used by Premiumwatch (not Powersells this time Michael?) because Michael himself has been banned from eBay.

Reported as "Modern dial with logo removed, movement didn't exist when this was supposedly made, incorrect case"

even thought about doubleposting this in the vintage thread, as this really among the worst and stupid fakes I have seen, worth remembering.

pathetic is the right description, Roff !

how desperate, fraudulent or plain stupid do you have to be, to create this FrankenPOS ?

Forgot to translate the most outrageous claim:
"This is one of the first Breitling watches with a turning bezel, even before the famous Navitimer 806 was launched"
no sh.t, this is what "premiumwatch" claims ! :wowzers

I´ll also post a picture of this miracle movement that somehow made it´s way into a 1951 watch, 31 years before it was launched and a screenshot of the listing & german description, as they might pull it themselves ....

Actually would not mind to hear from his lawyers, as all my accusations here are quite easy to prove.

crook.

And we should on crap like that.
I can give a blind eye for a little franken vintage, but this is outrageous.
We explained everything to ebay through report and by pulling it, they made the right thing.

Absolutely agree.

People like Michael are far more dangerous to the community than the Argentinian fakers who are turning out obvious garbage because he can build his reputation on legitimate pieces. Why he feels the need to resort to this rubbish is beyond my understanding - but then there is a lot about him that I don't understand.

Wish eBay gave more space - "Removed as #270732277433. Modern dial without logo, movement later than this is claiming was made."

This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available.
