Post subject: | Looking for help with another eBay item... 1960s Chrono |
Hi again, Was hoping to get some advice on the authenticity of the below watch. A few items of concern that I have noted myself: 1. The lack of a photo of the internals with the back off. 2. The back has a number of 2002, but no sign of a serial or model number. 3. Is it just me, or are the outer numbers not quite aligned with the second markers? (e.g. the "60" above the 12 o'clock marker and the "120" below the 6 o'clock marker) http://cgi.ebay.ca/STUNNING-BREITLING-C ... 1c1a7afb7b Any advice is appreciated. Thanks ian |

Looks like a legitimate mid 60, 2002 Top Time which should have a Venus 188 inside it. Serial number will be on the inside of the caseback. What concerns me is the lack of a movement shot - I would want to see that before committing - price is also rather optimistic. |

Thanks for your reply. I had asked for pictures of the movement and inside of the back case and this was the response: "The watch has an unusual construction. Instead of accessing the movement by opening the case from the back, its what I call a front opener. Essentially, the crown and stem are dismantled and then the lens is taken off and the dial/movement lifted out. This is a trickly proceedure and not one I want to try. My watchmaker has serviced the watch and reports that all is in good condition and all is correctly signed. Hopefully you will see from my reputation that I would not try to deceive you. Besides, I offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy," So I think I'll be steering clear of this one. Thanks again for your help. |

His explanation is correct, but it's still not something I would buy without a movement shot. |

Good to know the explanation is correct, but I had the same opinion... While he may be on the up and up, I can't invest in a watch without seeing photos of the movement and the numbers. Thanks |
