Hello ,
I just won an auction on ebay for a set of used watches (breitling). I am not an expert or even close to one when it comes to expensive fine time pieces. I tried to get as much info online as possible and cant seem to find the exact model with the the same design. though it is the Gt model and pre 2009 i presume. Most of the images i saw were all recent gt 2009 or later. So i would like experts view whether these two watches are real or fake or good replicas. The seller has also listed that these two are from his fathers collection and does sound like its could be genuine but i know the saying if something is too good to be true then it is too good to be true.
But still i would like to know if i just bought some peice of fake or did i just get lucky. Also whether i piad too muhc for the fake if indeed it is so..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... MEWNX%3AIT

also if its fake could you please show me the points from where you could conclude the result as it will be immensely helful againt such future situations.

thanks

They are both fake no doubt about it. The one with all the so called functions was never a watch Breitling made. The Gt isnt real either just by looking at the clasp. The Breitling appears to be huge ,and my recollection the lettering is smaller. These watches sell for 50$ to 100$ in Tijuana. These are poor fakes to boot.

Sorry but you are the new owner of cheap junk. Not going to even point out ALL the clues, as they dont even look like ANY Breitling models ever produced. The story in the description is made up BS as well. We have all seen similar stories and most start off with a family member dieing and leaving a MASSIVE watch collection.

I am still amazed, no disrepect intended, the amount of people who buy a "Breitling" watch on ebay for 1/100th of the going rate for a pre-owned and really want to believe they are real. 2 suggestions: go to a authorized dealer and pick up a catalog for reference and post a link or picture in the replica/fake/junk section for help before you WASTE your money.

Those 2 watches are worth about $5 in a pawn shop, if the quartz chinese movements are running.

As others have said, they are both fakes.
First one is GT fake with sunken day/date wheels, too thick white outer ring on the slide rule and wrong chrono seconds hand logo.
Here's the real... http://www.watches.co.uk/watch_pics/lar ... 6390_1.jpg
The other is non existing model.

WOW! ive been in this game for a long time, and those, are by far, without a doubt, the worst fakes i have EVER SEEN. but, notice where nowhere in the auction description does he say the word breitling. he is very careful not to do so, he know what he is doing. i cant believe 25 other idiots bid on these!

You need to look at more fakes - far, far worse than this on eBay every week.

@OP - DO NOT PAY.

Report them to eBay as fakes and they will be removed.

I have also reported.

okay its fake ....that being decided can we all learn the finer points of how to diffrentiate between a real and a replica...as the pictures provided are great way to learn and look for points that would easily stand out .
I am going to report to ebay or atleast inform the seller so that he can still make amends and list it as a replica rather then drag his dad into it and try and make the sale legit.

regards and thanks for the calrifications. ( please keep it coming ...the points as disclosed by the experts are great way to understand about these watches)

Welcome abroad. If you are serious about buying a real Breitling though you can't do it on the cheap, I'm affraid. Breitling is desirable luxury brand so there products never sell for a fraction of retail price, even used examples.

If you paid with Paypal, rule 13 states that sellers of replicas will have the money taken from their account and repaid to the winning bidder. The replica has to be destroyed.

You've already been advised on why these are fake - has sunken day / date wheels, a thicker than correct outer sliderule and incorrect central seconds hand. The right one soesn't look anything like the real thing - no Breitling has four subdials in a row.

As for getting it relisted as a replica - that's against eBay policy too.

always send the link to this site before bidding! People here will tell you if they are real, there are some experts here who can spot the best fakes. Sorry to say these are horrible and anyone should have been able to know they were fakes, how long was the listing, i'm suprised it wasnt reported before you and others bid on it!! They must not have been listed under Breitling and nobody saw them, why do guys buy the "my dad died and has a huge collection i know nothing about" trick?

My wonderful Dad passed away recently. He was a great guy, and one of the most unique things about him was his love for watches. He had the largest collection in the world, we believe, and the Guiness Book of World Records has contacted us regarding featuring his collection. The biggest part of his collection and the part he was proudest of was his character watches...huge, but he had many others too. I hope to continue selling Dad's watches on E-Bay if there is enough interest. If they go over OK, I will start listing them regularly, and the income will help my Mom.

Reported :guns: (after auction end).

and ffs - DO NOT Pay this scammer!! That's the worst trailer-trash sob story I've heard yet.

If you paid with Paypal it won't be a problem getting your money back because he knows it will happen anyway, and he will want to live to scam another day. So just write and say the gig is up, and you can do things the easy way, or not.
