Post subject:  New guy here just bought a Breitling

Greetings gents. Brand new to the forum and just bought an Emergency Mission in mint condition for a price that makes me feel like I stole it when looking at how much they go for. Everything I know about looking at quality watches tells me it's real but I need some help to confirm. If it's a fake, because I got it from a friends family member, I can get my $ back but as they are pretty close and of very good reputation. So where do I begin?

Welcome to the site.
The easiest way to tell if it's a fake is to snap a picture and post it either here in this thread or in the replica section.

OK. I'm not real good with the camera but these should be clear enough for a decent look. Hope it helps.

Really? How can you tell?

I guess what I really mean is, are there specific things to look at or look for? I'm not trying to be difficult its just that like with Rolex, there are some very high quality replica's that are so good that experts even have to go inside to verify. I'm just suspecting that with other expensive brands that quality replicas would be some big business as well. I suppose I need to contact Breitling as this serial # and model needs to be registered to me for the location transmitter purposes.

Your help and info is greatly appreciated by the.

Happy Holidays. :D

Your right, there are quality replicas for Breilting as well - just not for the Emergency Mission. Most of the fakes of the EM are horrendous and can be spotted a mile away. There are a couple that are slightly better that require a second glance but still are pretty much trash.
Rest assured, yours is real.

:yeahthat

If it was an Evo or a Steelfish, or an SOH we would have needed to look more carefully, but this one is an easy call - real for sure.

Yes you'll need to simply call Breitling and they can fax/email the proper form to you to fill out and mail back to them.

There is no place on earth where you can get a more definitve and unimpeachable opinion than right here on this site. If br549 and Roff tell you no doubt, that's the end of the inquiry.

It's a beautiful watch, it's real, and welcome to the club!! :lingsrock:

Awesome.

I absolutely love this thing. It's a beautiful piece and good size too. I've been wearing an original Russian diver for a while (60 mm) and am quite used to it so this seemed small at first but in actuality, it is still a good size watch. I've got these like orangutan arms and watches 40mm or smaller just look sort of silly on me. I don't even know what size this is but I guess because its still nice and thick with some weight to it, it feels big. Maybe 44mm or 45mm would be my guess.

It's 45mm. :)

Great info. I see what you mean about that model being slightly different. Particularly the pushers but otherwise, pretty much the same watch.

The more I look at Breitling, the more I can really appreciate what they're about. I've known about Breitling for a long long time but I had no idea how many different models they have. :wowzers

I'm sure if I hang out here for any length of time, I'll learn much.

You can say that again. I've been here less than two months, and my knowledge has increased exponentially, and not just about Breitlings. I probably know way more than the general public at this point (I often find I know more than my local ADs), but compared to the pros here, it's a drop in the bucket...and probably always will be.

Congrats on the Emergency, BTW.

Unfortunately I find that this isn't hard to do in many cases. :? It's kinda like going to a car dealership and explaining the car to the salesman instead of him explaining it to you, that drives me nuts...no pun intended.

To the OP, great looking watch, congrats. Nothing like getting a great watch for a great price.
