Consider it a moderator reminding you of one of the tenets of this site (you've seen this already in the last few days):

And FINALLY, Please respect your fellow posters! Not everyone is the same as you or has the same opinion as you, so please try and be open-minded. Respect other people's opinions and they will respect yours. Name-calling and insults are childish and have no place on this forum.

If you don't like the way that I moderate you are welcome to contact the owner / admin (username breitlingsource) - he wrote what I just quoted.

Roff, I can see my comment directly addressing the OP was treading the line of acceptability under the rule you cited. I didn't need to make cracks about the person's status on this board. For that I apologize. As for my comments prior to that, I stand by everything I said. I see gross aftermarket modification of Breitlings to be a disservice to, and cheapening of, the brand, and I don't particularly like the thought of us encouraging the acquisition of such pieces. I don't see them being as bad as fakes, but I think a case can be made that they aren't helpful to the status of the brand. I don't see how it is disrespectful or out of line to say that, even if the way in which I do it is fairly crass.

Agreed.

There's the problem.

We welcome differences of opinion, this would be a boring site without them. We do expect that members remain respectful of others opinions. At the best of times sarcasm can be difficult to convey over the internet, when the other party is a brand new member who came here for some help it is likely to be lost entirely.

You and I have very similar opinions of pieces like this, and many, probably most members share those views. There are just ways to express that.

Point taken, but personally, I'd miss it if Sergio stopped saying the Transocean is the spawn of Satan and the physical embodiment of all that is evil in this and every other world. Likewise, my saying that blinged Ling isn't worth the dump I just took...well...to me, that's just poetry.

Edit: And for all of that, I'm sorry I got my knickers in a knot earlier. I think you do a fine job as a moderator.

Let me add something to this:

I am a very new member of this forum and have already learned and benefited a lot here.

This is among the most interesting, help- and respectful forums I know, independent of the forum subject.
If somebody is driven away by one (slightly crass) sarcastic remark among several helpful replies, he is probably not really interested in watches.

And I do share your view that these swarovski-style adaptations (even if the diamonds are real) of workmanship masterpieces are a shame (again, my personal opinion only) and make them look like cheap junk, even if the watch below them is authentic.

my 5 (euro)cents only, WatchFred
