Gents. As a newcomer to this site I would welcome your opinions and observations on a Chronomat Evolution that I am considering buying from a dealer. The watch is advertised as pre-owned and never worn and comes complete with International Warranty, original packaging and relevant papers. For sale at £2800. The dealer has an internet site and from testimonials seems genuine and trustworthy. 1st post so I hope format is correct. Obliged for any assistance offered.

Welcome to the site.
The watch in the pictures is real. Just make certain that that is indeed the watch you are getting and that the serial number on the back matches the number recorded in the warranty booklet and on the COSC certificate.

Especially as they look like stock photos from Authentic Watches or similar.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. Having read many of the posts on the site, prior to posting, I feel reassured by the opinions of many of the contributors such as yourself. The in-depth knowledge of the Breitling range is truly amazing. Very much appreciated. Off to see if I can conclude the deal.

You're welcome and good luck with the purchase. One last thing, do you know how much time is remaining on the warranty? I ask because that price would be a little steep in the US. I realize prices in Europe are a bit more, but to me, it just seems a little high unless there is a considerable amount of time left on the warranty.

Thanks br549. The warranty issue is one of my listed questions for the dealer who is going to phone back. The value of the watches here in the UK, like every other commodity, is over the top compared to the deals you get in the US.(Try buying a gallon of Petrol/gas) Such is life. Kind Regards.

:welcome:

I agree with everything said above. The pics look stock so ask for pics of the actual watch showing s/n matches the paperwork.

The watch is for sale via internet company trading as "Watchfinder". I have spoken to the sales team who advise that the watch is new but as they are not AD they have to state is pre-owned and unworn. They are selling on behalf of the AD.Comes with 2 year warranty. Under our UK regls on Distance selling I can return for full refund if I don't like it, also insured via Credit Card. Question. Can someone confirm that the "Evolution" as it is described is still manufactured or as according to Breitlingsource website was only made in the years 2005-2007. Is it still OK to describe a new Chronomat as such?

Sorry to be a pest guys but I asked if they could provide the serial nos of the watch but they stated for security reasons they could not do that. I have asked them to check if the bracelet has any numbers which they can give me and they have agreed to look it out and phone me back at 1pm GMT. Should there in fact be any numbers on the bracelet that would assist in verification of the date of manufacture. Again your knowledge and wisdom on these facts are greatly apreciated. If nothing negative I WILL be buying the watch.

Evolution was renamed to just Chronomat but it's the same watch.

They won't give you the serial number because they don't want to give away who the AD is who sold you the watch (easy for Breitling to phone up and get serials and then hammer the AD for breaching contract selling to grey market).

There is a model code and a date stamp on the bracelet but that won't help you prove the watch is real.

A search for watchfinder here would probably also help you! -

Roffensian, Went to the link supplied and it does have a mixture of views on the quality of service provided by Watchfinder. Difficult to know which one is accurate or indeed is it a matter of individual experience? I am now in a bit of a dilema about whether or not to go ahead. They say they will date stamp the warranty but would it be worthless if they are not the original AD?

I'm sure that the reviews are individual experiences and are all accurate - good and bad.

If you get a date stamped warranty then it should be valid, however if it doesn't have the stamp of the original AD then you may have issues.

If warranty is an important consideration then I would be looking to buy from an AD, not grey market :!:

Thanks to everyone who responded and assisted with this enquiry. I now have to make my own mind up whether to deal with this seller or go elsewhere.

Kindest Regards
