Hmm. So I'm reading this form that Breitling has e-mailed to me for the registration and what's interesting to me is that transponder is to be used in aviation related matters ONLY. So if I was in a serious pinch and my life depended on it, I'm not to use it unless it was a downed airplane or helicopter? What would anyone due for a chance of rescue if they were lost in a desert, rain forest, ocean, ect? Hmm. :?

This has been discussed on here recently. If it's a choice between dying and Breitling getting pissed at me...I'd rather deal with Breitling.

From what I've heard, it takes a lot less than dying to piss off Breitling.

There have been many discussions on the topic.

The very first use of the Emergency was a Breitling sponsored expidition - the Mata Rangi - a raft in the Pacific!

Yes, it's designed to be used for aviation related emergencies, and technically using it if you get stuck on a sinking boat (or whatever) is misuse, but in the event of a genuine emergency Breitling will replace your watch and ask you to sign a release that allows them to use your story in their press material.

On the other hand, if you pull the antenna because you have a minor fender bender in the mall parking lot then expect a big bill

I'm sure it's been covered here and I don't mean to beat a dead horse but I'm brand new and haven't been around when it was shared. I did sweep through a couple pages of topics but didn't see anything on it. A sticky on this would be cool?

In any event, aviation related or not, if it's a serious enough issue and my life is at risk, well like I said earlier, what would anyone do?

Like if I was on a kayak trip and went over some falls and ended up in the land of the lost running from dinosaurs, I would use it so that I would have a chance of being found. :nana:

I don't know about you, but if that happened to me, I would try to rewire the watch to function as a Vocoder, so I could sound like Cher when I sing, "Believe."

Id use it any time my life was in serious danger. Breitling could kiss my ass if they had a problem with that.

:uplaugh: :yeahthat

And though someone mentioned it, I too thought about it when I was reading the agreement that if this thing does what it was designed and saved even a single life, what would that be worth to them in advertising? :?

I've got a headline for you: "Emergency rescue crews find a man lost at sea by tracking his aviation beacon, and leave him there when they discover his plight was not the result of aviation. Film at eleven."
