Post subject:  Navitimer seller - great ratings, but price too low?

Hello,

First post. I've been looking to purchase my first Breitling. I really like the navitimer in rose gold. Retail prices is around $23k. I've seen some grey dealers around 15k-18k. But I found this one for 10k in the chrono24 website. Would love to get your opinion on this...

https://www.chrono24.com/breitling/navi ... 697153.htm

The seller has 1500 watches for sale on the website, is a "trusted seller" since 2016, and the reviews are 5 stars.

Thoughts?
Many thanks.

This what the seller told me:

“Hello , we are reseller , we getting watch direct from factory ,
watch is brand new and full set , you can purchase watch throu chrono24 and we will ship watch to you , once you receive can check it if everything fine can ask chrono 24 to realese money to our company ,
thanks.”

I’m just trying to understand how the watch can be brand new at that price.

The markup on precious metal watches is extremely high, even more so than the same model in stainless steel. In doing research you will find that the wholesale costs of watches are approximately 40-60% of their MSRP. At 40% of MSRP that works out to $9200, given that that model has been discontinued it is possible that the dealer was able to obtain it at a low cost and is just looking to make a quick profit. I do not think that you will be getting a five year warranty from Breitling, but anything is possible! Good Luck!

I hear you. I wouldn’t expect warranty from Breitling from any gray market dealer. If something happens I’ll use the savings to pay for repairs. What I’m trying to avoid is getting a fake. I’ve read several times in this forum to “buy the seller before the watch”. Since this my first time buying online I’m hoping to get some help in gauging the legitimacy of this seller. Would you guys trust it given the information given on chrono’s site?

As WatchFred stated, no risk if you use the escrow service, then have watch authenticated. I don't recall this model as one that have fakes circulating, plus I would doubt that this dealer would be dealing in forgeries. Just my opinion, I have never dealt with them or made a purchase on chrono24!

there has NEVER been an attempt at faking solid gold modern Breitlings - the recent Navitimer fakes are quite good (actually sadly sometimes good enough to make AD believe they are authentic as we've seen), but any jeweler will be able to test if that case is 18k gold in about 10 seconds. zero risk.

Yes the case can be 18K and not a Breitling authorized case. This happens quite often with Rolex. Truly an18K bracelet not manufactured by Rolex. You have now crossed from fake to counterfeit. Personally, I would not buy from a dealer regardless grey or AD if not in my home country. I don't want to pay customs. I have bought sterling flatware from the UK, customs will contact you for their cut. I only buy new goods from a trusted grey dealer in NY. I use Chrono24 and other sources to set the price.
