I had my Navitimer World for sale on Craigslist, and I got an interesting proposal. I got a text from a 330 area code, nowhere near my location on Long Island, offering to pay my asking price (no negotiation had me giddy!) but he wanted to know if I would ship the watch. He offered to pay through PayPal, cover the fees, and asked me to ship it to his brother because that's who he was giving the watch to. I told him I would, and then he told me that his brother was in Ghana, Africa! He offered to pay an extra $100 to ship there as well. However, I was skeptical (as most Americans are about international shipping) and after a brief googling of his brother's name, it seems this is a common scam. He's scammed people out of Tablets and cameras as well, with the same brother in Africa story. The scheme is to actually PayPal the money, but once the item is sent he files a claim and gets his money back because the African Address is not the confirmed PayPal address. Just to see what he'd say, I told him I would if he added his "brother's" address to his account and confirmed it, then I would send it (of course I wouldn't actually do that since he tried scamming me in the first place). Needless to say, he never responded.

MORALS OF THE STORY:

DON'T SHIP ANYTHING TO A NON-CONFIRMED ADDRESS when selling through PayPal!

Google is awesome!

If it seems too good to be true/fishy, stay away!

Have him paypal you the money and send him a box with a photo of a Breitling in it, to his 'confirmed' address, let's see what happens. J/K

That really sucks that people try to scam honest people out of their money.

Craigslist can be shadey as heck! Always make sure that you feel comfortable before buying or selling anything. Glad you checked it out and realized it was a scam before it was too late! I sold my World on the BS forum. Takes much of the stress out of the equation!

What someone needs to do is send him a Semtex Christmas card.
