I sent my SOSF in for an overhaul on Dec. 3rd. The next day I was notified that they had received my watch. About 2 days later, I received the quote for my overhaul and I paid for it the same day. I was told my watch would be completed by Jan. 21st. I loved the fact that their website claims to provide email updates for every step of the repair process.

After a week, I logged into their website and saw that the status was "repair in process." Since this was my first experience with them, I assumed that the work had begun already and I was thrilled. I used their online chat service and spoke with a female staff member. I asked for an update on my watch. After checking on my watch, she returned to "It was only approved (for service) last week." What she meant was, I had received my quote, approved of it and provided payment. She had no update to provide me and was obviously annoyed by inquiry.

I waited til early January and called for an update. I was told my watch service was in process but they were behind due to holidays. She was very matter of fact about it all, they were late and that's it.

My completion date came and went and I never received so much as a call or email update. I called yesterday for another update and spoke to Derek. He asked for my repair number and then asked me for my email address. Not for my phone number, but my email address. I asked him to take my cell number and to please call me. About three hours later, he called back. He said that he spoke to the watchmaker and my watch was shipping out tomorrow (now today).

I checked the website this afternoon and it still says repair in process. I called the store at 5:50pm, they close at 6pm and got no answer. I then tried their online chat which I assume shadows their business hours, but saw that there online chat unavailable at this time.

Why advertise email updates for every step of the process if you're not going to provide that. Why provide services for luxury goods if you're going to give your customers attitude when they inquire about their valuables in your care? Why tell someone that their watch is shipping out the next day and not follow through? Thoroughly frustrated by this experience!

We have spoken to jhemmer and apologized for his experience with Govberg Watch Repair. The estimated completion date for his repair was January 21st and the watch passed testing late on January 28th. We do provide automated updates when watches are received, estimates are posted, approved or declined, when the watch ships out, and when the package is received by the customer. We also typically provide an email update when jobs are delayed, but that did not happen in this case. Sometimes repairs do take longer than expected for a variety of reasons, but there is no good excuse for not communicating delays to the customer, nor should a customer feel that he is getting "attitude" when calling customer service.

We are sorry for the lack of communication and have upgraded jhemmer's shipping to priority overnight so that he has his watch tomorrow morning. We don't believe that jhemmer's experience is typical, but we take every piece of customer feedback extremely seriously to ensure that future customers have a better experience with us.

Thanks to jhemmer for the opportunity to talk more about his experience, and we hope that the quality of our work lessens the sting of a less than perfect customer experience.

In life, balance is crucial. So while I am willing to offer up criticism, I too must then be willing to share praise. My watch arrived this morning and looks fantastic. It was carefully packaged and was enclosed within Govberg's version of the Breitling Service zippered case. I'm pleased with their work.

You don't need a good AD, sent it directly to the service centre on Hayden Street in Toronto. They have a lot of my money and never had an issue.
