Post subject:  Buying a watch off Chrono24?

I'm looking to buy a mid-size Rolex watch for the lady for our anniversary and have found a few that fit the bill on Chrono24.

I've never used that site before, so just wanted to know what precautions I should take before pulling the trigger.
I don't really trust throwing £3k on a watch over the internet, but there are some good deals on there.

Is it enough that the seller is listed as "trusted" to guarantee that the watch will be as described and genuine?

Don't trust the trusted seller status, it's meaningless. Specifically, it means:

1. This seller has been a member of Chrono24 for at least 3 months
2. We have no knowledge about pending/unsolved disputes or complaints about this seller
3. The sellers payment balance at Chrono24 is in good standing

So basically, they set up an account 3 months ago and paid their bill.

Treat Chrono24 just as you would eBay.

Some ADs post items on offer on Chrono24 website. Quite dependable, as they carry products with offical warranty, but I still recommend you to go to that particular shop first and see that watch yourself before comitting. Some of those tend to be returned watches, worn by staff or older display models, with the protection stickers removed. You might find minor cosmetic issues with those. Look at my post titled 'My second Breitling, a shopping experience' to know more.
