Sorry, I would immediately start a claim too if all of sudden a "last minute vacation" came up. Put yourself in his position. I am sure you have friends or relatives who could have dropped off the package for you.

You expected immediate payment but you wanted the buyer to wait for shipping until you got back from a sudden vacation? I would have done the exact same thing, I completely side with the buyer.

I have to side with the buyer on this one. I have done deals where I may not be in town at the time of payment. Dropped the package off at my shipper and paid for postage. He holds it until I call him and tell him to send it. After I'm out of town and the buyers pays I make one phone call and the package is shipped! Easy! If you are selling something the buy always comes first in my book. Just my 2 cents!

I guess I don't have all the facts. How long were you to be gone? Did payment arrive before you left? What is a "last second vacation" anyway? Since the buyer started a Paypal dispute it seems you got the payment. How long were you expecting the buyer to wait? Was your original deal shipping upon receipt of payment?

Were it me and if payment was not to arrive before I left, I would have simply taken the watch with me and shipped it from wherever or if the funds came before I left I would have made a point to ship before I left no matter how "last second" the "vacation."

An online buyer not only risks a substantial amount of money but takes a significant leap of faith in the seller even if due diligence is exercised. Anything that sounds out of the ordinary would quite properly give the buyer pause and contacting Paypal is a prudent course even if your intentions were pure, which I assume they were.

I have one question - whatever your line of work, would you treat a customer who was relying on you that way?
