Post subject:  Bought a watch from a member, the serial number doesnt match

I bought a watch from a member here, but when I got it the numbers did not match.
The papers is for the same modell, but the serial number is different.

The seller said “I must have sent you the wrong box”

Now I am sitting here with a $4000 watch, with papers who don’t match.

I have a feeling of not being taken seriously by the seller.

I have not heard from him since February 14. When he wrote:

Hey I couldn't find it when I thought I could. I know I have it though. I'm back out of town until Friday again. If I can't find it, I'll pay to get Breitling to send new papers or just offer a full refund if you'd prefer.

Does anyone have any suggestions to solve this problem.

IDK - mistakes happen, but no contact for a week would trouble me. I mistakenly put a 20mm croco (instead of 22) on a watch I sold recently but realized it before it was delivered and agrred to swap them out - should get my 20mm back anyday.

Another time I couldn't "find" the warranrty book on a face-to-face, had my AD order a new one, then found the other one before the exchange.

Can you post us pics of the watch - good pics???

Troubling (if that's a word).

A lot of the forum members do travel for work. Did you check refs etc?
Did the seller have a 'few' posts?

The seller had only a few posts, but he was recommended by a major player on this site.
I do not think the watch is fake, but you never know.

Moving this to the feedback section. No reason not to mention the member's name and then I can check some stats for when they last accessed the site.
