Wow, that's terrible Rob. I'll be on the lookout for you. If you can't reach him this week I would get a lawyer to call and follow up with a letter to the dealer you sent the watch to. As long as you can prove that you sent the watch then I would assume you would have a new BB on your front porch by the next day. If not, then I would sue in a heartbeat.

Good luck.

I'd be pretty upset at this. Although the originally purchaser should step up to the plate and get it back to you the jewelery store obviously shipped it to the wrong place. What method was it shipped? I wonder if you could get Fedex, UPS, etc involved? Let them know that your property was shipped to the wrong address and the jewelry store isn't helping out. Maybe they can lose their shipping account? That's a long shot but I'd contact everyone that was involved in the process. Do to the value of the item, I'd call the local police department in the city where they're located and ask them what they'd suggest. Even if it wasn't sent USPS (which I'm not sure what method was used), could a call to the postmaster general's office be helpful? I don't have any personal experience so i'm just talking here... but the way I see it is they shipped it to the incorrect person, regardless of who that person is and they should be the ones doing the legwork to get a hold of the previous owner.

Sorry to hear about this. So long as you let them know when you sent it you were the owner and the return address, your remedy is against the jeweler. A classic bailment situation. And an equally classic mistake in the computer age. Likely no one entered the new info.

The jeweler doesn't get to escape liability to you by pointing a finger at the original owner - they pay you and then can they pursue indemnity from the original purchaser.

I was able to reach someone where the package was delivered and find out who picked it up. It's going to be returned. Thank you so much everyone!

Thank God you kept the lawyers out of it. They screw up everything!
