I don't "get" the attitude of some in this thread.

If a buyer is unhappy, the deal should be undone, period. No one should question that the seller is unhappy-- he is.

NAWCC has a customary 3-day return privilege with no questions asked. It's the standard among watch collectors.

If stated as terms of the agreement, of course. Otherwise it is up to each individual. Fortunately as my feedback (and mfserge's other feedback) shows, this is not an issue I have had to deal with despite many sales. But bottom line - I am not a store. If I deliver as promised or make other arrangements to satisfy the buyer, that is sufficient. If a buyer decides he ought not have spent the money or he simply does not like the watch as he thought he might have("It's too big" or "it's too blue"), it is the buyer's problem. All save one of the ADs I deal with do NOT, I repeat do NOT, have an automatic return period.

If I deliver a POS, then it becomes my problem and I need to do what is necessary to make the situation right.

Finally, please see the instructions posted by Admin in the Buy/Sell/Trade section. They set the minimum terms very clearly. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=530

Your position is not consistent with the site rules or those of the other major forums - TZ and WUS for instance.

The buyer is not asking for a refund or for the deal to be undone....nor has he ever indicated that was his wish. In the future I think you should mind your own business and stick to answering the question that the OP asked....and you of all people should talk. You just sold my buddy a POS Navitimer that had a nasty chip in the crystal. Does the NAWCC has a customary policy of selling watches with chipped crystals??

The OP reached out to me earlier today. He asked if he could take me up on my $100 refund offer so he could get the watch polished by a professional and I will gladly honor that request with a paypal payment tonight so he can have the watch polished and enjoy his timepiece.

Here is his PM "I talked to a technician at my AD today and he quoted me $150 to polish the case. If you are indeed willing to send $100 upon me providing proof of the service I don't mind picking up the rest of the bill in order to reach a resolution on this"

I'll send him the $150 tonight, without a receipt from his AD, so we can all happily move on.

Paypal payment sent for entire quoted cost of polishing. As per OP, the matter is now resolved.

Glad to hear it guys. And Serge, I think it was very generous of you to spring for the full price of the polishing.

I hate to say it, but I have a tear in my eye. It's a perfect valentine's day story.

Indeed, the matter has been completely resolved. I will drop the watch off at my AD tomorrow for the service. The watch was certainly not in a condition which would prompt me to request to have the deal undone. I did receive $150 to cover the whole cost of the service. It was a pleasant surprise. Someone mentioned honor and integrity earlier and this closure clearly shows one of the reasons why mfserge has the superb reputation that he does. In retrospect, I feel like this could have gone much smoother than it did and perhaps my lack of experience did contribute to the bumps along the way. In the end, we did not agree on the severity of the cosmetic issues, however I am a firm believer that there are always two sides to a conflict/debate and I do acknowledge and respect the opposite side's opinion and views provided they have argumentation which he did. I appreciate everyone's opinion and feedback on this issue.

Cheers

I'm glad this worked out and I sincerely hope you enjoy the watch.

YKS, If I were you, I'll send the watch to BUSA for servicing instead of an AD. The movement inside the watch has to be removed whenever the case is polished and AD's are not capable of doing that except Breitling.

That is simply NOT true, for goodness sake. It depends on the type and extent of refinishing being done. He's having the lugs, case side, and caseback polished. A typical jeweler's rouge and fixed dremel doesn't require that at all. 1000s of watches a week are polished thusly at ADs without removing the movement. Don't you think the mods may have commented on that already if it were true?

Hey, let's fan the flames, maybe there is an ember left. Ugh.

I took my car to the car wash yesterday for a detailing and they said they have to send my car in to Volvo to remove the engine in order to wax my car? Is that normal??

What an idiot!! :banhim:
